Keeeerhistamighty, ***** ***** *****. The O-line sucks, the DBs are getting schooled. WTF are you people smoking anyway. There is a reason over a dozen NFL teams had scouts at the Tampa Bay game and it wasn't to see Cadillac standing on the sidelines. Look for Nick to stockpile some draft picks by way of thinning out the receivers and bouncing an O-lineman.

Stockpiling draft picks is a pretty good indicator that the man is happy with the who's who on his roster right now. No immediate needs. Can you recall the last time the Dolphins were entering this stage of the pre season with this kind of depth at any, let alone several positions. I cannot. They appear ready to go into the season without the last minutes dregs off the waiver wire being a part of their game plan. All hail the Nicktator for he is the second coming of Don Shula. The mass has ended. Go in peace.

Pardon me Mods, I did not realize that the perjorative term for a female dog was a forbidden word. Mea culpa mea maxima culpa. It will never happen again, please no more warning points.

I liked our depth prior to losing McKinney / Wright / Poole / and Toledo....

Today, it's thinner as a result of those injuries, and there are still some questionmarks surrounding the current state of our re-shuffled OL. It hasn't been completely up to par thus far, and it needs to play better as a unit. There's still some time prior to the opener to get more comfortable, but they need to show better pass protection against the Panthers, than they did against Tampa....

Game four is a wash, so game three @CAR we're going to be seeing our best group, and it will be our biggest challenge to date against a very strong DL in Carolina. If they look solid on Thursday night, I'll be convinced, and more comfortable heading into the Pittsburgh game on Sept 7th....

Still, this unit needs work, and the Panthers will be a very tough test for them. Let's just hope they step it up a notch or two....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Carolina will be a damn good gauge of their progress I agree. Also, it will be good to get Toledo back in the harness. I think he is going to be a dandy. The other area I didn't mention in the original post is D-line. I think one or more of those (non-starter) beasts will become trade bait.:dolphins:

Geez, now we've gone from being desperate for new blood to being stockpiled enough to rake in draft picks, all in the space of 2 preseason games! Gotta love this board!

My bad!!

Who is vernon?
GO DOLPHINS!! :dolphins:

I agree that our depth is much better now than it was two years ago (or even last year) but I think it is a stretch to say that we will have many players other teams will be willing to give up a draft pick for. I think we will be lucky to make one trade, possibly two if some team ponies up a decent offer for Manny.

1- Saban is never happy with whom he has on his roster ... a good coach never is .... it can always be better !

2- We don't have a 'ton' o folks that could garner draft pick compensation .... [at least those we'd be willing to part with at this point] ... maybe Minor, Newman or Zgonina, then some reaches ... Gibson, Vickerson, Wright, Jackson, Beasely, Heinrich, Campbell and Pearson .... but don't see anything above a 5th rounder at best ...

3- See Zgonina OR Vickerson making the team, but not both ... Newman is also likely a keeper ... Gibson we'd like to keep as well - but a high enough draft pick might be enough to sway him away ... Wright is the same boat - an offer high enough, might pull him away ... the rest of the folks are just caught up in a #s game ... also expect us to try and keep Vick and another receiver on the PS ...

Our OL is getting some real tests in preseason...

Jax - One of the best DL's in the NFL
Bucs - Also, one of the best DL's in the NFL
Carolina - Also.......one of the best DL's in the NFL

If our starting OL can just "hold its own" against their starting DL's, I think we're doing pretty well...
Yes, they can improve, but they're going against some Elite DL's so far.

I can't see why any team in their right mind would give us a pick for manny--remember, we got him for a 5th rounder and I would say his value has decreased since. That being said, I would love if someone made any sort of offer for him. I think he would be gone in a heartbeat. What might be even more advantageous would be to find a way to keep him on some kind of inactive, nonfootball, didn't report, etc, list. I think we have too many other people who are deserving of a roster spot to save one for Manny. I just can't see him contributing at all this year and we are now very deep at DT already.

"Carey: Gets an initial push on the DE and loses him in space." ...from PhinKev's latest O-Line report (thanks Kev!) and it sums up Vern in run blocking. He's simply got to get better there, but I don't know if he will. His pass pro is 'good enough' tho'.

Shelton = DMac in pass pro, but he's better against bull rushers and an even better run blocker than DMac = upgrade.

James and Hadnot will be fine.

Anderson should improve, but I don't think it will be enough. I hope Toledo gets back in the mix at RG soon.

These guys will get it together, but RG is a problem as of right now.

Do you have anything positive to say? Ever? You seem to bash all posts that are written. At least that's what i see when i read your posts. If you don't like the posts, don't comment. I agree somewhat with you over everybody freaking out over pre-season games though, it is getting ridiculous and cannot wait until the regular season. I just find your posts condescending the majority of the time. Not to bash you or anything just an observation.
