Turk's placement on injured reserve continued a special teams overhaul that began last month. Six-year long snapper Ed Perry was released in favor of rookie John Denney and linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo, who led the Dolphins in special teams tackles the past two seasons, was traded to Chicago for tight end John Owens and a 2006 conditional sixth-round draft choice. The Dolphins released Owens less than a week later.

Did anyone notice the mention of the draft pick for Ayanbadejo was a conditional 6th round pick. I know this isn't big news but we have been speculating for several weeks what round it would be. So we got a 6th round pick for someone we were going to cut and also a chance to look at John Owens. Ayanbadejo did make the team but I'm not sure what the condition is.

Good news. Did we even have a 6th this year? You can get quality players there, I mean we got Vickerson in the 7th...

Yeah I believe the only missing pick was from the Wright supp. pick in the 5th round.
We should have an extra 6th and 7th (Bedell).

The condition was that he made their team. if he did then we get the pick.

Cool. I am not sure if we got the pick for Bedell since he was released right? Either way, it is good to get something for nothing as we would have released them here too.

We get the Bedell pick because when he was traded to the Packers initially, he made their team and played for two seasons with them.

good news...saban building up the draft picks.with another solid draft we could be competing for the SB sooner rather than later

Saban needs to stockpile as many picks as possible in his first few years with the Phins while he knows the most about the college players coming out and has the hottest contacts within the college ranks to get the inside information. Right now he's got a heavy advantage for these couple of years finding players. So next year we're missing a 5th but have two 6ths and two 7ths. That's good. There are 26 players on this roster from the WannSpiel regime, meaning there's probably room for another 14 of those guys to be replaced come next offseason by free agency or the draft.
