That about sums up how I feel about our beloved Fins. Stop trying to outsmart everyone with fancy blocking scheme, stop bypassing proven players for players with "Good Upside", stop, stop stop.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what the main problem is...Our OL is inexperience and not very talented. Over the past few years I've watched as we have bypassed solid college players for players who we're not well known but overflowed with potential. As an example look at Will Pool. Solid college player, looks to be a solid pro.... For those that will attempt to through Vernon Carey at me, let me say this, IMO OL taken sub top 10 will in most cases take time to develope.
IMO Speilman is not the problem. I feel as though he feels pressure to make something happen this year and is therefore willing to gamble to make something happen. IMO Wayne H. Needs to look in the mirror and realize that he is as much to blame as anyone. He brought back a lame duck coach, Promoted speilman but might as well of put an interim tag in front of his title by not giving him a decent contract.
Let's face it, this is a rebuilding process. Unfortunately by the time the offense is ready the Defense will need attention. I am encouraged that we have young players like Boa, Pope, Pool, and Bell waiting in the wings to step in.
If the fins are going to turn this thing around it will all depend on what they can do upfront. The old way of thinking is, "Games are won and lost in the trenches". Let's see what the fins from here.
