If Drew Brees is signed, who would our back-up Qb be? Brees comnig would mean the end of frerottes big contract.....but who would be our backup? in that case would be keep sage as our back u and lemon as our 3rd string? would lemon be our backup? would there still be a possibility of drafting a QB in the 4th or if we get a 5th or 6th, someone like pinegar or gradkowski or some low round QB?
 
If we do sign Brees, I would like to see Frerotte restructure to stay as the backup. Seriously, no team is going to make Frerotte a starter next year so he is better off staying here as a backup then going somewhere else. However, if he refuses to restructure, cut him and sign another veteran QB(for a cheap price). I would then draft a QB in like round 4 to compete with Frerotte/veteran and Lemon for the #2 and #3 spot.

He is a decent back up and his price should be cheap. However, I believe the fins should draft a young qb in either round 4 or 5.
 
The reports are that Miami is only offering "back up" money in the restructure proposals for Gus.
 
i like omar jacobs. But cleo Lemon will be the backup, and that is BECAUSE he is going to be an awesome quarterback. This kid has all the skills. Goodbye Sage, who will be signed as a 3rd stringer for another team and then get cut, ending his career. Lemon will eventually replace anyone who we bring in here. Even if we brought in Brees, Lemon will outplay him in preseason and if Brees ever goes down with an injury
 
Let's say Brees is the starting QB. Frerotte won't get any offers for a starting job in the league, so at least he will get a chance to compete in the Fins offense, needing to restructure his contract. In the other hand, I don't think Sage likes the idea of being at the bottom of the depth chart, so likely he will explore other offers, he could get lucky. The third spot will be decided after NFL europe's season ends. Brock or Cleo will fill that spot. :wink:
 
Gus would be the backup and Sage and Cleo would battle for the #3.
 
i'd like to see us pick up someone late, like a Brett Basanez out of Northwestern to possibly compete a for a job a few years down the road.
 
personally,i think eventually gus will resign with us if he doesn't get a starting job elsewhere. Dolphins want to pay him about 2mil.-2.5mil.for a back up,especially if brees comes in. i would love for us to have drew,gus and lemon in 2006,it can happen. gus won't go anywhere else if he is going to be a back up plus nobody is really going to pay him more than that considering all the QB's that will be on the market plus new draftees as well. I think we will be sitting pretty good if we get brees{if not i would like sage to be no.2}
