I'm over here now
With talk that Saban offered MM the OC, does this mean that Baggett was never an option?

Anyone have any ideas on this? It would be interesting to know why NS would block an interview and not want him as OC.

Some Questions:

Would this indicate that NS wants to keep the same O and have Baggett as the liason to the new OC?

Does this mean that CB is not qualified?

Does this mean that CB did not want it?

Does this mean that CB did not want to go to ST?

I guess it just means that CB will do the same thing as before, just with a new offense.

I want him as the OC... but it doesnt look like it is gunna happen...

Again I repeat: Nick Saban has stronger ties to Charlie Baggett than Scott Linehan does! He was an assistant head coach under Nick at Michigan State. In my opinion, Baggett is still here to keep continuity. If you start changing all of the offensive coaches just because SL has left, then you eventually have the same situation we were in last year. Look, I dont believe that Nick "wanted" Scott to leave, like some of the conspirary theories out there. But quite honestly, it is almost unheard of for a coordinator to be denied permission to speak about a HC job. Its a matter of respect. So, Nick figures, we can lose Scott and replace him with a VERY capable mind (Mularkey, Martz.. whoever) but I can still keep all of my other position coaches in place, who have developed relationships with the players, who know how things work around here and who can help the players make the transition smoothly from Linehan's system to the new OC's.

Yah i agree too. Its gonna be hard to learn a new system, but having the same positional coaches makes the transition alot easier. Especially when you have guys like Houck and baggett who are great coaches at what they do.

Incorrect. If it was simply that then Saban would have let him interview Baggett and he would remain of his OWN volition.

I believe Baggett will be allowed to go to St Louis once the phins have an OC on board and that the only reason he was denied was due to the possibility that he'd be an OC choice.

Ya ever think Baggett would rather remain with Saban?

Yup but then if that were true then Saban would have no need to deny St Louis from talking to him. Once Mularkey is hired Baggett will be gone as the OC usually gets to bring in his own staff. They won't deny Baggett a shot at the OC job in St Louis. They just want to make sure they got their OC in the bag first.

I think that Saban has a good plan up his sleeves. If Mularkey doesn't want to come here, then Saban will promote Baggett to be the OC and run the same kind of offense that Leinhan ran here. If Mularkey does come here, then Baggett will either keep his role or Saban will let him go to the Rams.

Mularkey will not bring in that many members of his staff.. he obviously didnt like many of them in Buffalo because he fired them anyway! Maybe some from his Pittsburgh days... but IMO Saban will want to keep the position coaches as together as possible.

Whos our runningbacks coach?
