Hey everyone, like many of you may be I am the only friend in my circle that is a Dolphin fan. I play fantasy football with a lot of them, and here is what I wrote to them. Just thought that I'd share. Just FYI, Cherish is my wife, so she's a fan, and Todd shares the NFL ticket with me, and watches his team the Browns every week on the TV right next to the Dolphins game, so he has seen every game. We all picked the Dolphins this week...
Hey everybody I know that nobody but Cherish, me, and Todd have been seeing what is going on in South Florida, but it is marvelous. The Miami Dolphins are playing some great football. They have just beat the 2 teams that were in the AFC championship game back to back. Bill Parcells has got this team going in the right direction, and there is no telling where it will end up. My 10-6 record (that ALL of you laughed at) may not seem so far fetched after all. I know it is still early, and a lot can happen...but it is still early, and A LOT can happen!
The offense is clicking on all cylinders behind this new wildcat formation. Ronnie Brown looks like a man playing amongst boys out there, and is tied for the lead in rushing TDs. Ricky Williams is adding his help to, and together lead the AFC in rushing as a running back tandem. Chad Pennington (who everyone doubted) has revived his career, and is living up to his title of the most accurate QB in NFL history by being 3rd in the AFC in completion percentage. Besides a last minute INT in garbage time the first game, he has not turned the ball over.
Let's not forget about the 8th ranked total defense either. Joey Porter is playing like he did back when he was the most feared man in the NFL and is 3rd in the league with 5 1/2 sacks. Let it be noted that the 2 above him in the rankings have played all 5 weeks with no bye, like Joey had in week 4. Besides Joey, I feel like it is another "no name defense" in Miami. Nobody but us hardcore fans could name anybody else on D. It should not be overlooked that 2 of the league's best offenses were shut down against Miami. The league's "best" runner LT had a measly 35 yards rushing, and made Phillip Rivers look like the pud he truly is, not an "elite" QB. Oh, and don't forget the goal line stand, where LT is usually money. Ronnie Brown earlier in the game converted a fourth and 1 to lead to the Dolphins first score, and they never looked back. There is something to be said about a running back when in the last 5 minutes of the game every single player knows that he is going to run it, but he just converts first after first and runs over fools. LT the best running back? I think he is down in Florida wearing orange and aqua.
Let's revisit my predictions on the schedule/record for those of you who still think I'm crazy:
1. Jets-No way the phins lose this one. Chad against his former team and Brett wilting in the Miami heat...WIN
2. @ Cardinals-Arizona already has Warner on IR and no running game...WIN
3. @ Patriots-LOSS
4. BYE
5. Chargers-Phillip Rivers is still a pud-LOSS
6. @ Texans-Not impressed by anything outside of Andre Johnson and Mario Williams-WIN
7. Ravens-Most likely with a rookie QB?-WIN
8. Bills-Marshawn Lynch gets alot of points hopefully, still-WIN
9. @ Broncos-This one will be tough-LOSS
10. Seahawks-The birds will definatly be undefeated at home, but struggle on the road, and have jet lag going all the way across the country-WIN
11. Raiders-Still a coupld years away-WIN
12. Patriots-Dolphins always play the Patriots tough in Miami, but-LOSS
13. @ Rams-will be harder in STL, but Marc Bulger still can't get it done while running for his life.-WIN
14. @ Bills-actually in Toronto, will be tough, but the Phins get the sweep.-WIN
15. 49ers-WIN
16. @ Chiefs-already shut them out in the preseaon-WIN
17. @ Jets-Miami will be to hungry to lose-WIN
There, that is actually 12 wins, but I try not to look through the aqua colored glasses too much. There will most likely be 2 losses in there as well.
**That's what I said at the begining of the year, and it still stands in my opinion. We got to 2-2 a different way, but the rest is still good. I am still not afraid of Buffalo, even if Trent Edwards comes back. They have struggled against some bad teams.
So I guess in closing I would just like to say sorry for being excited, but I haven't been able to in a while, so bear with me.
GO DOLPHINS!!!
