What do you think BAP (Best Available Player?) or Team Needs?

I’ve agreed with the adage that you go BAP, unless the need is glaring and the value is there. Meaning draft the need without reaching to far, say perhaps within 6-8 slots after the middle of the 1st round on.

I think during the Wannstadt era the team tried to draft value late instead of the “Safe Bet.†Going for that injured, small school, questionable character. And for needs early thus the 1st rd. busts (JJ’s Avery, Fletcher, McKinney, and Moore) I realize not all these fellows were true 1st rounder but they were the team’s top picks.

Looking back it seems to me that the FO was looking for that grand slam to put us over the top instead of the Safe Bets BAP. I hope Meuller and Co. are able to resist the temptation and do the right thing, which I believe is Draft BAP!

I will take the long road gratefully to see the team depth get back to the Coach Shula days.

You basically line up your positions of need and take BPA of those positions.

Always BPA, no matter what. The Cardinals have been doing that, now they have a nucleus of great young players (copied from footballoutsiders.com)
