Obviously we're going to need to use a high draft pick or sign a marquee free agent at the QB position during the next offseason to get where we want to go. But Sage Rosenfels is an unrestricted free agent and A.J. Feeley is a goner, so we're also going to need a third-stringer we can develop.

I watched some of the Texas A&M/Texas State game Thursday night and was really impressed with the Texas State QB, Barrick Nealy. He torched the A&M defense for 378 yards and 3 TDs on 26-34 passing, and also ran for a 38-yard TD. Nealy made great decisions, showed tremendous composure, and almost single-handedly kept them in the game at Kyle Field. (For those of you not familiar, Texas State is a I-AA program that went 5-6 last year.)

I hope the Dolphins take a look at this guy as a potential late-round pick.

I'm still not convinced we need to have a high QB pick next year. This year needs to play itself out. Free agency may also be an avenue. I think we would be better suited to draft O-line/Defense high because they require less overall money (usually), and can make an immediate impact.

To get more bang for your buck, it pays to get a midrounder (like this years Kyle Orton or Charlie Frye) IMO.

When it comes down to it there is a strong possiblitiy of Saban trading for more picks especially since he will still be relatively familiar with the players coming out. And he has preached the most talented player at that pick will be chosen.

Drew Brees can not be franchised next off season so San Diego has to make a decision between he and Rivers. Miami will have a 25 mil cap space from what I've
been reading. So I say sign Brees and C Lecharles Bentley and in the draft draft a LT
#1, a DB #2 then spend the rest of the draft on more Offensive Linemen.

I don't believe that is true at all. The success rate of late rd QB's is very low, it's been posted before, I just can't recall it. The success rate of 1st rd Qb's is 50%, still low,but far higher than the rate of late rd Qbs. Kyle Orton would not be starting if Rex Grossman did not get hurt, and i'm not convinced Charlie Frye is the QB of the future for the Browns, if they take a Qb high in the draft that means essentially Frye is a wasted pick.

This will be a very deep draft at qb but but I'd rather have Rivers or Brees and draft one in the 4th rd.

I think its a very shallow draft at QB!

He's a a transfer from Houston, I guess he knew he couldn't compete with Kolb, & he plays in the spread offense, so of course he's gonna put up huge #s.

Greetings Fellow Fins Fans

This is my first time posting to the site, i game over from dolphin digest, it wasnt the best sit out there. But back to the thread, I believe Saban has a good idea of which QB will fit into our system for the years to come and the ones he wanted either where taken when we were to pick or that they are coming out in next years draft.

All I have to say is Omar Jacobs, arm near Marino and feet of Elway

The best bets seem to be Leinart or Omar Jacobs so far. If one of them is available in the first, I think we draft them (otherwise we go OL). If we don't get our first round QB and someone like Vince Young or Chris Leak is there in the 2nd, we'll probably go that route. Other than those for guys, there are no high-round QBs that really seem super promising to me. I wouldn't call it an especially deep QB class

I really like the idea of Hawk or a defensive playmaker in the 1st and whichever Qb makes a slide to the second such as Brad Smith or McNeil.

What about Rex Grossman? With the emergence of Orton, Grossman may no longer be in Chicago's plans.
Perhaps he can be had for reasonable money and 3rd or 4th rd pick. I think he has been a victim of bad luck with those injuries. His luck is bound to change? Isn't it?

I don't think Grossman is worth the chance, nor do I think Orton is that sure of a thing just yet.

Ken Griffey Jr, although with Grossman at least he has getting hit when he got hurt. Still some guys just seem to atract injury.
