I think they can find a guard next week, no? Plus, there are still vets available if need be that could fill in.

I do agree that they should have been more aggressive finding a player inside, but I have always thought they like someone in the college ranks…hence the lack of push to fill LG in FA.

We shall see.

Its gambling... First the player they like could very well bust, second, welll its the draft, they might miss on that player entirely... Then what?

every time I see philbin talk about Thomas I want to puke. the guy doesn't have it... period

I do not believe that the only options left at guard are in the draft.

But LG needs to be addressed.

Collins is a monster, but needs some work. he would start day 1 imo. I wouldn't be to upset with that pick is the top 3 wrs are gone. it would be an instant upgrade. he is a road grater, and can move well for his size. his aggression does get him in trouble sometimes and lunges a lot. also heavy feet in pass pro, but not as big of a deal after being moved inside

i really like Tomlinson in the 2nd to

They brought in a OL from Atlanta today (Johnson?). This in addition to the fa signings thus far. Also, there are going to be post draft cuts. They seem confident Turner is going to start so it is the other guard that needs to be figured out. If it were one of the Tackle positions I would be concerned with our situation. However, I'm not as concerned with the guard situation at this point. I think the front office is putting themselves in a better position to draft BPA.

i was impressed with turner when he got the few opportunities that he got, which blows my mind on why he didn't play more. hell when fox was in it was a different line. smh. but turner will no doubt start at rg imo. and if he doesn't something is terribly wrong

I wonder if they would have considered Jarvis Harrison last year. Anyway, he comes off like a lazy goofball, but he's super talented. Great feet for a guy that size, and when he wants to maul, he can. Doesn't seem like the kind of guy this staff usually likes or handles well. Doubt Hickey or Philbin would sign off on him, and I couldn't really blame them.

Bottom line: as things stand, we are looking at yet ANOTHER season with O line being this teams Achilles heel unless it is addressed hard and fast in the time remaining. Albert is coming off of a major injury, our guards have proven nothing, pouncey just got paid so we will have to hope that doesn't result in a step back, and James needs to make a step forward after tailing off last season. Couple that with us losing a blocking tight end for a receiving one and it's my biggest area for concern. It's Groundhog Day with this damn team sometimes.

Team chemistry, o line play, offensive consistency, smart decision making...these were the things Joe Philbin trumpeted as his best qualities from his history in the league and those are currently our biggest holes.

A lot has to change quickly. I'm optimistic after this offseason except for this area of our team. If one of the first two picks in this draft aren't O line, they got some splainin to do

Joe philbin needs to have "i continuously endorsed dallas thomas" engraved on his tomb stone

I like the approach the front office has taken so far and hope you are wrong (I know you do also).

Name the other options?

Outside of Cam Irving the FSU O-line is not a fit for our scheme...waste of time working them out. I got a look at Jarvis Harrison against Mississippi State and I think he's a player worth taking a chance on but he'd take a year or two to develop...not a day one starter. Same can be said of Jamil Douglas although I think he's ahead of Harrison. As far as measurables go Ali Marpet is the perfect fit for us...but we don't have a 3rd round pick right now and I think other teams will think highly enough of him to take him pretty early in the 3rd.

Some how some way I fully believe either by trade OR released then signed that Evan Mathis will be starting at left guard for us come week one. Book it.
