Some things I would like to chime in on...one, I love he asks the question: "what is Philbin really good at?"

Also, Jackson misses a huge criticism opportunity when complimenting Rizzi, Campbell and Rodgers....they are all holdovers from the previous staff.

I totally agree that Joe is an effective administrator, but gives nothing outside of that.

Dolphins players generally like defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle, but some believe Rodgers should be the coordinator, and the front office was unhappy Coyle didn’t find more ways to use Dion Jordan.

But this is troubling: One offensive player said he hasn’t learned a single thing from his position coach. Another who has been on the team during Philbin’s tenure said the assistant receiver’s coach, Phil McGeoghan, does a much better job than receivers coach Ken O’Keefe, and questioned O’Keefe’s acumen for the job. (O’Keefe previously was the offensive coordinator at Iowa and worked three years with Philbin there.)

O’Keefe, like several of Philbin’s hires, had a personal connection to Philbin, which made him appealing despite not having any NFL experience. Aside from coordinators, nine of the 12 coaches that Philbin has hired had never worked in the NFL.

As for Philbin, a lot of players like him personally. What you don’t hear are words such as "innovative" or "dynamic leader."

Interesting.

Philbin & his staff is awful in every way. Hopefully they have another 7-9 year and the GM can hire a new coaching staff

This what generally I and others have said all year about Joe and his staff. The lack of assistants that were hired on a merit is alarming. Figures the best coaches are the ones that have a great résumé and not personally connected to Joe are the best instructors....crazy how that works.

On the surface Mike Sherman was his best hire and it was an abject failure. I did have a problem with all his inexperienced guys esp the qb coach. His Ol hire has been a disaster also

I agree. I loved the Sherman move....and it failed.

I knew if this was posted it was going to be Hayden! There is some concern over what was said, granted its a few associates of players that stated this. EVERY coach hires people he knows & is familiar with look Caldwell hired Asst HC b/c he knew him & he was the OC at Rutgers, Chud last year hired Turner who he knew from his time in SD Whisenhut has hired people he knew it happens by EVERY team. Criticize all you want about the left over coaches being better WHY NOT give Philbin credit for recognizing their abilities & keeping them.

jeff was upset the rookies didn't play more...other than dion jordan who we could have used more creatively to get snaps out of and it's on coyle that we didn't none of em deserved to play more...

just jeff trying to save his hide after another crappy draft...on top of everything else...

i have no idea why that oline coach is still in the building...

I would also give credit to Joe that I think he has done well guiding RT early in his career. However, he did him a disservice by not demanding more runs this year

I love the term "associates", which I take to mean agents. I am guessing that some players are unhappy that they were not put in position to succeed or excel and are complaining about it. I understand why. It all comes down to MONEY and the next contract they will or will not sign.

I think our run game has been so inconsistent that its been hard to stick with it but there have been some major gaffs not sticking with run when it worked

The most disturbing thing about Philbin is the fact that his "specialty" is the O-line............. let that sink in.........
Didnt like the Hire of Philbin when it happened and still doubt his leadership as a head coach. Prove me wrong next season Philbin and the doubts will go away.

David Cantar was the one that came to mind reading that, especially after what his thougts were at the end of the season. You would have thought with all of Shermans wealth of experience he could have provided the X and O advantage on O but never really seemed to.
