Barry Jackson: Miami will not enter bidding war for Malik Willis. Sullivan genuinely likes Ewers and keep an eye on Jimmy G.

“For us, the ball was coming out crisp, clean, tight spiral, a little more juice on it. I like what he did. He’s a little like Tua [Tagovailoa] in the sense he’s accurate. Very good short to intermediate thrower. Quinn would be the first to tell you there are a couple decisions he wishes he had back, but I thought he did a nice job in the limited window he had. It gives you excitement moving forward about what potentially he could be.”

He also made some nice scrambles when protection broke down which has been something missing in the room in a big time critical way

Imo, I do feel like we have a very talented qb on our hands in Ewers when it comes to things that qbs must now how to do, we might of got real lucky here if on one condition imo.

I’ve seen enough of this ****y Texas kid to know he has that way about him that makes players naturally follow him and play hard for him, Texas kid has some swagger now that’s for sure.

I like that he has that cowboy hat belt buckle and jeans in the Miami culture, he’s just cool man, no circumstances here either :)

Now saying all that one thing I believe will keep him average, push him to being our real qb of the future or failing.

This dude has to train hard just like Tua didn’t, strength, quickness and agility.

He’s got good genetics to build on those three trains to help elevate his game, i am very confident that he hasn’t been a gym rat up til this point so i sure hope he know and makes the sacrifices to reach his physical apex potential.

Would absolutey love to see him starting to
Post videos of him taking this opp serious and training like a mad man.

I probably won’t get that wish and he’ll probably fall in line with many that have hi level talent and just rest on those Laurels, but that’s my Tua scar tissue talking

Let’s go longhorn, let’s see what you got, and let me tell when I go to camp this July and August you can bet your ass I’m going know how
Much work he did put in

Food for thought - Kyler Murray is going to be playing for someone at vet minimum, since he'll already be collecting a massive paycheck from Arizona in 2026 and his offset language makes him attractive to a cash strapped team.

I wonder if that'll suit Miami or if they'll want to go with someone who is an unknown ala Ewers.

I'd like to see Ewers/Jimmy/Rookie in 2026. I am a big believer that you shouldn't give a job to a young guy in camp. Say to Ewers "you want to be the starting QB? you need to beat out Jimmy in camp". If Ewers can't beat out the corpse of Jimmy G he shouldn't be starting for us.

There is absolutely no reason in this world to have Garoppolo on this team. Play Ewers until he sucks so much you can't play him no more and then play whatever crappy backup we've signed for virtually nothing and ride out the year
Couldn't disagree with you more. They need a vet. What is Ewers is the guy. Before his injuries he was being talked about as a top 5 pick.

Garrop got paid $3 mil in 25 Miami could probably sign him for 1 year and $5-6 mil to entice him to come here.

Do it sully.
i think if garrapolo got $3mm last year, give or take that is all he gets this year. not sure why his market value would go up when he didn't even get on the field for the rams? for $3mm i am fine with it. not to mention, it pretty much puts to bed the malik willis rumors and drafting a qb high rumors i think.

i suspect garrapolo would be happy to come to miami. the guy is still single, and look at his dating history incl the porn stars. something tells me being a starting qb or being part of a winning team is no longer his priority. which is fine in this case.

if he wont do it for $3mm, fine someone else who will. the backup position is pointless now given the spot we are in. you want cheap, and someone that will be a good teammate and good in the room with ewers. we are not winning with anyone, so the backup QB position at this point is about not impairing us in the future, as opposed to what the backup can do now.
