Barry Jackson On The Dolphins Free Agency Signings

Easy to say same ol grier, but who exactly were we supposed to sign instead? Most agreed this was a weak FA class and the top players got insane contracts that would not have been good for team to do. There were a few guys who got reasonable money we should have looked at but whos to say that player wanted to sign here. I have no real complaints who we got so far, Id like a better 2nd safety, corner, and LG but we might end up waiting until after the draft to sign those positions

There's no question, to me, that Grier has taken too many chances on injuries. I don't mind it as much in free agency, when that's a way to get bargains at lower salaries and doesn't kill the cap. But, I believe players coming off injuries should be avoided in the draft. Late rounds, sure, but Grier has swung early on injured players way too often. Phillips comes to mind. A great player when healthy, but he's now been injured twice and missed significant time. Even Waddle was coming off an injury and Grier took him 6th overall. Tua another example.

We will see how it all works out. Both health and performance when on the field

If you say one thing about Grier, it’s that he sticks to his guns, regardless of what people think. Is that a good thing, I think not otherwise we would’ve had some success and by some success I mean, winning a playoff game or at least be competitive in December. He is a big fail.

two ways to look at this. We didn’t have the cap space to do much better in free agency so he went for bargains.......OTOH, Grier is the one that traded a bunch of picks away for expensive players so the fact we had very low cap space is thanks to the moves he's made in the past.

Well, finding a decent guard was top priority and he did that, basically every top guard in this year's free agent class had some kind of injury history, can't really fault Grier for that and I'm no Grier lover, trust me

Very warranted criticism

The Bradley Chubb situation last year was atrocious in hindsight. Gave up picks, paid him big money, only for him to not play after getting hurt at the end of a blowout season before. OOF!! Absolute worst case scenario.

I never wanted us to make that trade...I hate trading high picks away

I would love to pile on Chris Grier here who I think deserves all of the criticism he gets for selecting mediocre talent but this is the NFL, everyone is always injured, but I will say that he definitely plays it loose. I think the biggest problem is that Chris Grier does not have a good eye for talent, regardless of the player's injury history, he is always selecting unspectacular talent. Even Tyreek Hill who was his best acquisition, was only made available to CG by the Chiefs because they did not see us as a threat. He got lucky to get Tyreek. Grier needed to be gone years ago. Minimal changes will only lead to minimal changes toward success for this team.
