I like that the Fins are looking at a space eater in Thomas or Cody. Fine for rotational purposes and maybe Kacy Rogers could coach him up.

Donald Brown would be a nice pick up at RB.

I like Howard at RT, but I think Giacomini is not a fit.

Sign Wade Smith, man. I have been saying all offseason.

Wade Smith? Jeez, talk about full circle.

Ben Tate would be nice! And add Leach and our back field would be much improved

I would love any or all of Giacomini, Dietrich-Smith and James Jones. I really like Howard but I think he wants too much money.

on Mitchell

The good news on the 6-3, 300-pound Mitchell: At 26, he’s four younger than Starks and Soliai. He was highly coveted. ESPN’s Bill Polian ranks him as the fifth-best free agent at any position in the entire class. He has pass rush potential; PFF insists he had four sacks last season (NFL.com credits him with only 1.5) and ranked him 26th of 69 tackles as a pass rusher.

ESPN’s Scouts Inc. says Mitchell “has become a real inside force and one of the most productive penetrators in the NFL at generating consistent inside pressure. He is a much better athlete than most guys who play his position, and his effort is outstanding. He is a one-gap penetrator with good quickness and really works to finish the play. He is young and will only get better.”

The bad news: PFF ranked him 57th of 69 against the run in 2013. And overall, PFF rated him 51st among tackles last season, compared with seventh for Starks, 13th for Jared Odrick and 20th for Soliai.

### The Dolphins did not make an offer to Starks and presented Soliai with a last-minute two-year, $11.5 million offer, with only the first year guaranteed. What’s more, Soliai was given only a 24-hour window to accept Miami's offer after receiving it last Friday. He got a much better deal from Atlanta (five years, $33 million, $14 million guaranteed).

### Besides Mitchell (who will be paired with Odrick), the Dolphins want to add another defensive tackle. They have inquired about several who have been both starters and reserves, including Cam Thomas (San Diego) and Terrence Cody (Baltimore). They called about pricey Tyson Jackson, who signed with Atlanta.

Wade Smith: ZBS fit. Knows Coach Benton. Will be cheap.

The part that bothers me about the report is the lack of context. Mitchell played NT within the 3-4 scheme run by the Texans. He is under sized for a NT, and his penetrating style works well for a 4-3. Despite playing out of position, he had a profound impact on the rushing average. It was significantly higher when he left the game.

the two reports on mitchell are a see-saw he cannot be both good and bad ->someone is lost in their assessment -> Hickey sees him as good ->

Interesting that PFF had Mitchell ranked so low against the run.
Instead, they’ll go with Mitchell – an under-the-radar talent who did the dirty work in Houston, taking on double teams that often allowed J.J. Watt to make plays. When he was on the field last year, the Texans’ run defense allowed just 3.1 yards per carry; when he wasn’t, that average ballooned to 4.2. He led all nose tackles with 50 tackles and tallied 2.5 sacks in a defense that wasn’t designed for him to make plays.

Mitchell, from the University of Arizona, ran a 4.75-second 40 as a 296-pounder at at the Scouting Combine. That athletic ability has him drawing interest from other teams around the league. Plus at just 26, he’s got plenty left in the tank.
