The Dolphins have been giving thought to having Koa Misi play middle linebacker, which would shift Dannell Ellerbe outside. But they’ve also toyed with that before.

Though the Dolphins remain interested, right tackle Zach Strief's priority remains trying to get a deal done with New Orleans...

Though the Dolphins could do worse than Bryant McKinnie as a veteran tackle backup – and he would welcome a return – Miami has not discussed that, according to his representation.

Prior to reading this article, I was skeptical that Finnegan was better than Carrol or Patterson. After reading the article, it seems to verify that. Odd signing unless they expect Taylor or Davis to make huge strides.

Just draft Skov to play middle LB and move Ellerbe outside. Send Wheeler packing.

A couple of things that I don't like about Finnegan are that he's skinny, therefore more likely to get injured yet again, and he run his mouth a lot on the field- he's an obnoxious player, and that's not my preference. But more than anything, it's the money he got that confuses me- 11 mil over two years.

It's the only Dennis Hickey FA move that I don't like so far, but given that he's done well so far (and replaced the odious Jeff Ireland) I'll be happy to give him the benefit of the doubt. What's confusing is all this talk about the Dolphins looking for value, and then this. This is the one contract that I would have expected Dawn Aponte to beat down the price on.

Those numbers on Finnegan are pretty ugly. I didn't realize he was as small as he his. We have two 5'9 corners - we are not going to be physical w receivers at the LOS. This bothers me.

Just because they are shorter than your prototypical corners doesn't mean they won't be physical at the line. Probably one of the best aspects of Finnegans game is his physicality. Knock him about coverage, but you can't say he isn't physical.

As for Grimes, watching him play last year I can't really say he isn't physical either. Dude brings it on every play. I'll take that over a soft tall corner (like sean smith) any day of the week.

No disrespect, but have you ever watched Finnegan play? He's about as physical as they come for CBs

Just sign Mckinney as a backup already! Our Db situation is not close to settled, if they are able to resign Patterson
that would help.

If they don't sign at least 2 more offensive linemen in FA heading into the draft (and one better be a quality linemen) none of this is going to matter. Cause the o-line will still be a disaster and Finnegan will be the least of the Fins problems. If they think they are going to draft 2 starters on the o-line in the draft and start Shelley Smith (who has limited work) then you got 3 young guys on the o-line that are unproven and then this o-line could be as bad as last years overall even with Albert..

Oh well at least they aren't spending a lot of their cap space and the next GM and coach will have a lot to use next offseason

Something is going on at LB. Between the interest in Jackson and talk of moving Misi to MLB, I expect something early in the draft that shakes up the LB core.

Not a newsflash, but I do not see the status quo from last year starting in Sept.

Their going to draft cj Mosley

If they want to draft a LB I'd go with OLB Kyle Van Noy in the 2nd rd, I'd still draft Zack Martin at #19. I'd rather not spend a 1st rd pick on a MLB- the team still has to find a way imo to fit in Dion Jordan at OLB in a 4/3 since he's not best suited for DE, also dump Wheeler and probably Ellerbe next year when it make sense to dump their bloated salaries.

If they wanted to do that they better sign a few more o-linmen now. Cause going into Rd 2 and 3 of the draft expecting to draft starting o-linmen is a recipe for disaster, as of today they only have 2 starting o-linemen (Can't count Shelly Smith as he is a career back-up.) Not many quality o-linemen out there left in FA, not sure what Miami is waiting for. Ya get what you pay for in this league. If they want to sign a bunch of bargain basement guys then dont' be shocked when the o-line is as bad as it was last year...or maybe worse

All the talk about the line backing group is that misi may move inside and ellerbe may be more suited to play outside, talk that Jordan is moved to outside backer.i could see cj Mosley being the pick, with ellerbe and Jordan play outside with either misi or a draft pick playing the mike. Rotating wheeler in the nickel
