Why on earth do they have a "trading deadline" that has come and gone if they are still trading...somebody help me out on this...lol.

After July 31st, you have to put a player on waivers, if you want to trade them. All trades after July 31st must involve waivers.

Also, I believe players traded before the deadline can be on the playoff roster ... while those traded after the deadline cannot.

No I don't think your right, I think players added after September 1st aren't eligible to be on the post-season roster but all additions to a ball-club before then are. Not positive but I'm pretty sure that as long as your on the roster before September, no matter how u got on the team, your eligible for the post-season!

THAT'S right. I knew there was a post-season deadline, but I thought it and the trade deadline were one and the same. Thanks for the fix.

That's why baseball is my 2nd sport.

No problem man, the baseball trade deadline (or so called deadline) is so hard to figure out, I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out every little thing that goes along with it!

The one waiver deal the stands out is I think the Padres blocked Myers from going to Atlanta maybe and then they were stuck with him eventhough their only intent was to block him from helping another contender. The teams maybe wrong but it was a few years ago maybe even the year the Padres went to the WS.

You're correct. However for a player to play in the post season they have to be on the 40 man roster before September 1st as well.

The baseball "experts," and guys on ESPN baseball tonight make the trading deadline sound as important as the NFL draft. They over-analize all these players and deals and 99% of the time it doesn't matter who a team trades or doesn't trade (as far as helping get that team to the playoffs). The Diamondbacks never made a single deal before the trading deadline the year the beat the Yanks in 2001. It is all hype and filler.
