It seems that by Tony Sparano's comments that he is satisfied with our WR corps. He's mentioned that our first 3 guys are solid and clear what their roles are. By this he is talking about Tedd Ginn Jr, Greg Camarillo, and Davone Bess.

It seems that we are not in the market for Roy Williams, TJ, or Ocho Cinco. I guess he feels that we can make the playoffs with Ginn and Camarillo as our #1 and #2 with Bess as our slot guy.

Fasano and Martin seem to be our redzone targets with Wilford getting in a few times a game as a 3rd redzone target on some packages.

So I guess we might as well focus soley on the CB opposite Will Allen as our questionable position of need.

Seems like Tony is satisfied with Bess and Ginn sharing time at KR/PR too.

So I'm going to be paying attention to Andre Goodman's play as a starter and Jason Allen's improvement as the season progresses. This seems to be the position that will eventually warrant a change.

Unless Michael Lehan gets his starting job back and Goodman and Jason Allen compete for the NB spot.

As my sig once said, Jason Allen is ALWAYS improving.

Always improving, yet never progressing from the completely blowing level. Im confused as to how this happens. This mystery may never be solved.

sparano is the coach and works with what he has available. the boys upstairs make decisions on personell. we'll see here pretty soon. i think our recievers have been good, can improve and possibly be very good, time will tell. but obviously i don't make those decisions

We gave matt roth time, we should do the same with jason allen

Trading for a WR will not happen, unless the deal is very much in our favor. Chad doesn't have the big arm, we just need reliable hands . . . and the 3 guys we have . . . Camarillo, Bess and Ginn (Ginn is someone who gets knocked for his hands . . . but this man makes just about every catch I have seen thrown to him) all have great hands, and we have 2 TE's who have shown great hands this year (Fasano with the bad drop last week and Martin had the dropsies last year but has been solid this year). I think that is why we aren't that concerned with WR, would it be nice to have a Boldin or Chad or Roy . . . of course, but I doubt this FO wants to give up any high picks for anybody, especially at WR.

OK, we beat the chargers and pats and are 2-2, but keep in mind we are not a player away from a SB. We are still rebuilding. We are starting to see what this team has a chance to be but we are still several players short of where we will be in a few short years. Enjoy the process but don't read too much into the fact that we aren't out there with the usual knee jerk reaction to every player that hits the market. This front office will not sell our furture for a WR or any player for that matter that won't be here when we are ready to make a push for the superbowl.
I said at the begining of the preseason that this could at best be a 5 win team. I will admit I have had to add a few games and now believe with our schedule that we could possibly go .500 but that is still the ceilling for this year IMO. Next year if things keep going great we will end with the pieces in place and in two years we will be a team that can be in position to be a contender. Right now it would be moronic to trade our future on a player that may or may not fit our system while subtracting the draft picks that we have worked so hard to obtain.
After last years draft we have to believe these guys know what they are doing so lets just sit back and enjoy the ride.

That being said I think this team still needs a WR who can demand a double team, a corner like Cromartie (doesn't every team) and play making FS (although we can get by with Hill, but would rather he be the back up) and every 3-4 needs a unblockable DT (like Shawn Rodger when he is playing great, Kris Kenkins in his prime) and another inside LB who makes plays. After that maybe some depth at OL but I like our starters and when Donald Thomas comes back EK will provide some depth. After that the only other thing I need for a perfect offseason would be a set of topless cheerleaders. I wouldn't miss a single game.

I mean I think in the upcomming draft we will see a WR and 2 secondary prospects . . . to go along with 2 LB prospects, 2 OT prosects and a NT prospect (If we have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds . . . I could see us going CB, LB, NT, WR with those picks . . . not necessarily in that order . . and depending on the Carey/Gross/RT situation . . . OT could be in the mix early and maybe drop NT down as many teams don't need a true NT and that positions tends to slip in the draft . . . no need to go OT early if we resign Vernon or bring in Gross as we have our bookends for the next 5 years). I think with Holiday, Langford, Merling, Starks . . . our LDE and RDE situation looks great . . . but this is a BP team . . . and if a guy he is in love with is available . . . he may jump . . . ala Merling was a steal, he couldn't resist.

We're landing tons of talent with this FO, because they aren't inept and actually know how to scout talent. Keep stockpiling picks. We're turning it around this year largely in part to good drafting and FA signings. No need to trade for WR. We're not a SB team, but we could 'possibly' be a playoff team. Imagine what we'll be next year and the year after that with 2 more solid drafts.

I agree with all of that but the thing is we DO need a WR, and if you can get a young talent like Roy Williams for a 2nd round pick then I don't see what is wrong with that. Are we a superbowl team? No. Would Roy Williams still be young/good enough by the time we might be? Yes. Would we be able to get a WR as good as Roy Williams with a 2nd round pick? Highly unlikely.

I never understand the we are not a superbowl team so we should stand pat with our mediocre receivers comments. If we trade for Roy Williams its not like we only have him this year. Hell by that thinking we should have stood pat at Qb. I agree it makes no sense to rent a guy for a year but a long term guy makes perfect sense, you cant fill every need through the draft.

I see no reason to Trade for a WR before the trade deadline particularly in the case where the WR is going to be a free agent in the off season. Towards the end of this off season players were looking at Miami as a *place they would consider going* i.e. Horn and I think there were a couple others. If the team continues to impress, play hard physical football we may see a lot of free agents wanting into the program.
