most of the time (because his superior can't stay healthy and make it through a game).

Even though I hate that we jettisoned Ginn for a 5th round pick (5th round, yuk!), the guy we got is one of the more important players on the roster. While I cringe when I think of Carroll as one of our starting 2 CBs, you usually need 3 on the field so Carroll is always necessary. You hope that Jamar Taylor, eventually, can use superior instincts and athleticism to eventually replace Carroll, the experience that Carroll has earned now over the last 3 seasons has been very beneficial for his play this season and beyond. Taylor will actually have to earn his way and play smart and hard to pass Carroll on the depth chart. If and when that happens, it will mean that Taylor is playing at a very high level and not just handed the job (like Johnathan Martin was, which was a big part of the problem with him, IMO).

Also, the 'Wallace is a bust' thing, IMO, is getting smacked down by the fact that Wallace is getting open down the field, which is his job. If Tanny keeps underthrowing him then Wallace will be wasted. Don't blame that on Wallace though.

Wallace is a talented player and much of the blame for hoe role on this team is based on his skill set not being ideal for a WCO. Tannehill has missed him on some of those deep passes and the OC is doing him no favors with where they line him up and the lack of creativity to get him involved in the game.

And we are bringing this up after how many years removed?? Ginn would have been liked here if he wasnt a 1st round pick.

So Ginn makes one play? And did you see him get dropped at the 8 yard line on a kick return? Also, if you've watched this guy play in SF and Carolina, dropping passes and fumbling are still a regular part of his game. I'm glad we got a 5th for him, that was a steal. Also, SF let him walk for nothing, we could have had him back for free if we wanted him. Sad to say, we might have been better off re-signing him than paying the huge $$$'s to Walllace.

The way Wallace has been used and is playing until I see both Ginn and Wallace on the field together I think they're the same guy.

I don't think you can say that we could've had Ginn back 'practically for free'. He is making a few mil from Carolina, which he's earning. He's got 3 TDs and 2 of them have been on bombs. The dude's never been that good in traffic or fighting for a ball, but if he's behind the D and/or open, he catches it. He also doesn't stop moving his feet and fall down when the ball hits him perfectly in stride. I HATE when receivers stop moving their feet when the ball gets there. Seriously, are you incapable of walking and chewing gum at the same time? Hartline kills me with this and Brandon Gibson flat-out lost us that Ravens game by not continuing to run when Tannehill hit him perfectly in stride with that MIRACULOUS 4th & 10 play. Hartline also flat-out lost us the home game against the Jets in 2011 when he just fell down on the 36 (pretty much just out of good FG range) on a ball that hit him perfectly in stride. Then, Miami was unable to get a single yard and Carpenter blew the FG (good riddance to his hippie ass too: lol @paying him 3 million).

Ginn is what he is.....a very good returner and very fast, but with questionable hands and route-running skills. He never should have been drafted in the first round.

No one's arguing that, but I thought we kicked him to the curb out of spite when we did, as if we were blaming him for not being Randy Moss. The dude should've gone late 2nd or early 3rd round and we take him at 9 overall and then the fans hate him and the new faces decide to make him the poster child for the previous administration's failure. The dude flat-out won us a game in NY we had no business winning just by returning punts for TDs. He makes a joke of our current PR/KR, and he punishes any D that doesn't respect him.
Still, our #3/#2 CB Carroll is worth at least as much and that's how the transaction shook out.

Ted Ginn is a decent player. It wasn't his fault we had a buffoon named Cammeroon as head coach and picked him at #8.
He has scored as a WR and PR/KR. He just needed a few years to become productive. We gave up on him too soon.
I am not a fan, but most of the criticism against him is not warranted IMHO.

Jim Harbaugh also have up on him. Guys, he was a bust. Get over it.

If drafted Ginn with a 2nd or higher I wouldn't feel as bad about it. Looking at the players we did pass man that is one pick I wish we had. Atleast trade down and then pick him up.
