Now before everyone goes postal on me for saying this i just want to know should we have put out the extra cash for Arrington or Peterson? Crowder and Zach are going to hold it down in the middle but i'm not sold on the other LB spot. Having another outside rush presence would have made for a great addition. Thoughts?

Well I won't bash you for suggesting this as upgrading any position on the field with a good player only benefits the team. However when you take into account what kind of effect that would have salary cap wise etc. It doesn't justify it. So far our team has shown what it can accomplish with what it has out on the field.Remember how well we did against Jax w/o J.T. in the game and our starting CB in Daniels. Could a Arrington or Peterson have enchanced it more absolutly. Based on what we have seen so far in preseason and what is yet to be seen during the regular season only time will tell. I for one am glad we didn't give away money for a big name who may or may not help our team. Ussually Free agents don't pan out the way you want them too.

The D has performed very well without all of the starters in which is good.

Be honest, do we need another be honest thread?

I honestly wish we had signed Arrington or Peterson. I know we would have drastically over-paid much like the teams that signed them did. However talents like that at those ages can't be over-looked. Both players are some of the best combinations of strength and speed at the position. And both players offer amazing abilities as a passrusher (Arrington) and a coverage linebacker (Peterson). Arrington could rep in at DE, and Peterson could rep in at Nickleback, either would have added muliple elements of confusion and havoc to our defense. However I am content with both Thomas and Crowder. I just wish I was a little more confident with the weakside - Seau would have been nice to keep as well.

Well put, opinions may change once the season starts though, depending on peterson and lavar's performance.

Be careful what you wish for. Arrington has been somewhat underwhelming in training camp, and the Giants apparently are concerned that Lavar does have a degenerative knee condition.

The starting LB's are fine. The problem is that we have no real depth at that position and better hope we don't get an injury. Although i did hear the name "Labinjo" a lot last night so he must be doing something right.

As much as I like Spragan, I do wish we had another pass rushing LB that could make his presence known. Spragan doesnt make too many mistakes and is a solid player, but he doesnt exactly strike fear in the hearts of opposing defenses like Arrington or Peterson. We don't need a high class player like a Joey Porter, cuz that is JT's role, but a "Clark Haggan" or "James Harrison" would have been nice lol.
