As a general matter, when a player in his prime at a talent-starved position is cut mid-season, that player is terrible.
In this specific instance, that rule holds true.
But to answer your question, yes: he is an upgrade over Robert Jones and Lester Cotton.

They would have to claim him on waivers and pay the rest of his salary, which is $2m or under I think. If he clears, then no.

Ya I am with you on this watched a few Bears games and their OL is not good.
His play has been pretty tragic but young & possibly salvageable. Probably still better than the Cottons of the world ... who never should've made it over Driscoll.

Everyone on Chicago's offense has played below expectations, and they just fired their OC, which obviously indicates that coaching is making the players look worse than they are.
So, yeah, he'd be a good bet at an area of need.
