At this point, the competition between Douglas and Dallas Thomas for the job is technically wide open.

But Douglas, the fourth-round pick out of Arizona State, seems to have an early edge, however slight. People within the organization see Douglas as the favorite to ultimately earn the starting spot, but it’s far from a done deal.

Well let's hope.

The rest of the article is boilerplate fwiw.

At the end of of the first day during bed check he was watching videos of 1 on 1s.. The kid wants it. Hopefully he shines with the pads on

I know most people want Mathis, but if Douglas can be an average to slightly above average guard his rookie year, that would be huge for the Dolphins. The savings alone in cap moving forward would be nice.

As long as hes build his strength this offseason with the fins, which should be the case since hes getting professional strength coaching, then he will win the job. He has all the measurables, the work ethic (from every report I've seen), and will be going up against a dominating D-Line in practice (that will only help him). I fully expect him to be our starting LG day one sending Dallas Thomas to the bench where he hopefully stays all year.

I actually think he would have been a higher pick if ASU would have kept him at guard. He was a true guard moved to LT because he was ASU best OLman. If u watch tape when he plays guard it looks like it's natural to him. But when they moved him last year to LT he looked out of position at times.

Glad we sorted that out after two days with no pads. At least it was by people in the organization, whoever they may be and whatever they may do. :)

I always liked the player. I just want to know that he can nasty in the trenches. There were times in practices in Mobile he looked very finesse.

I never thought of "nasty" as a verb, but I like it. I hope he can nasty too.

As long as either Thomas or Douglas comes through I'll be satisfied. Ideally, from a depth perspective it would be nice if Thomas steps up and wins the job and Douglas continues to grow behind him.

Slimm picked Douglas as a pretty good guard if you review his analysis in the draft forum so I have been expecting this. Slim was high on Laundry and James last year also when many including myself thought James was overdrafted. Biggest worry is how Turner will turn out many opinions have him better at tackle than guard and if Albert stays hurt for any period of time Tuner may be our guy.

If he can't beat out Dallas Thomas for PT then we're in deep **** at that position.
