I usually wind up over here after I've had more than a couple, and, I wind up embarassing myself more often than not. HOWEVER......I've just GOT to comment on all the Beck/Henne stuff.

Sooooooo....

*Ahem*.... GET OVER YOURSELVES!

DANG!

Seriously..

On the one hand you've got a guy that has been handicaped by a mal chosen coaching staff, and, the other, the golden boy of a new regime not likely to blink out next year.

I seriously think you saw Chad Pennington stake his claim to the starting role last game...... So, after that...What is there?

You guys shouldlve been around during the Marino question.....That was some bitter, bitter stuff.

We're not argueing about Dan Marino here....It's....*Parsley* at this point, isn't it?

Can't we just sit back and see who passes thier way out of the wet paper bag?

I think one guy will make the team and one guy will get the chance at a better opportunity somwhere, so, where's the loss?

Nice job! Keep it coming.:hi5:

Peoples problem is that if Beck gets cut he gets picked up by another team and kick *** and all because the Fins never gave him a proper shot.

I personally think thats a bad way to look at it, but I do see the point because it has happened so many times in the past.

CK pointed out in a post that many missed - 7 out of the last 12 QBs that Miami had have gone on to post better stats than Miami QBs have in the meantime. 8 out of those 12 have played for another team, and only Gus Ferrotte did worse someplace else than he did in Miami. That's how crappy the decision making process in Miami has been.

yeah maybe beck will be the next favre (dream on) but how long do we have to wait? im tired of waiting on these picks that we get to produce. a lot of people always say you just wait hes gonna be the next(fill in name). well im tired of waiting to see. if these players cant outperform on our pathetic roster then good riddens.

I think we have more to gain by giving Beck the clipboard than McCown. McCown has probably become all he is capable of being. Henne is clearly better than Beck or McCown at this point, so I say give it to the younger guy and wait and see what happens. I see no future embarassment to the franchise by releasing McCown, but we could end up regretting cutting Beck bigtime. It's all about Pennington and Henne now so what does it really matter.

That's the problem no one is willing to wait. Instant Gratification. If he doesn't produce now he is a bust and needs to go. I agree for some high round picks like 6 or 7th rounders can be dumped if they don't cut it. But 1st and 2nd rounders need time so we don't waste the pick. Some have the view that if they don't produce fast the pick was wasted and we need to move on because a lot is invested in them. My view is becasue so much is invested in low round picks is the very reason we should be cautious about getting rid of them.

don't hold back .. tell us how you really feel

My question for the people wanting to cut Beck would be this:

Would you cut a QB that played in 5 games, completed 52% of passes, had 3 TDs and 8 INTs, and was sacked 21 times for 158 yds?

If you're answer was yes, you could have worked for the Bucs in the '80s. Too bad they sucked during the '90s. If they had kept that other BYU QB they may have done something. That's right, a year after posting those stats Steve Young was released by the Bucs. Good job FO. Way to be hasty.........

Yea. if only the bucs had 5 more years to sit him and put a probowler at almost every position on the offense as he learned from one of the best of all time. Circumstance has alot to do with greatness, if Young stayed in Tampa he would have just as likely had a Trent Dilfer like career at best. The Bucs had a chance to draft a surefire franchise qb(no such thing but in thier eyes) Vinnie Testerverde and get some solid picks for a guy that played like nothing special. Hell I wonder how Testerverde would have done if he went to Sf instead of Young.

Well, I think Pennington will be here for a couple years. I don't believe Beck is going to have to be thrown to the wolves again.

What's the worst that could happen if we keep Beck? Henne becomes the starter and Beck doesn't show improvement so we cut him later? What's the best that could happen? Henne and Beck both develop into starters and we get something out of Beck.

No what about if we release Beck? What's the worst that could happen? Henne doesn't pan out at QB and we're left with.....nothing. Meanwhile Beck is the starting QB somewhere else. What's the best that could happen? Henne is a good starting QB for us and Beck is a good starting QB for somebody else.

Well, I'll go with keeping Beck here. I would rather have a project holding the meaningless 3rd string spot than a journeyman has shown he will not get better. At least if we keep Beck, the guy sitting on the bench has a little hope. McCown has nothing.

I have no problem keeping Beck if the FO thinks he has what it takes, but I think McCown could just as easily perform good at some point as Beck. People probably wrote Gannon off as a scrub also.

I truly think if our FO cuts Beck its because they honestly dont see much in him as a qb. I dont see us cutting him just for GP. It is possible however that any player cut could turn into a good play but seriously I dont see us cutting a good qb.

For every Gannon there is a David Carr, Joey Harrington, and Billy Joe Tolliver.
