Although Josh McCown said he expects to be the Dolphins' starting quarterback, you won't hear any similar declaration from John Beck. But Beck explained last week why he believes he has improved, and insists he doesn't care if the Dolphins draft a quarterback in the early rounds.

In two months working with new quarterbacks coach David Lee, Beck said he has received more individual coaching on technique than he did all last season.

The bolded part is the one I'm excited to read.

Yes, that was nice to read...I believe Beck will have a solid year.

I think he will as well. Wasn't a huge fan last year, but wanted to see him succeed.

Me too

I understand that last year was supposed to be a learning year for Beck, but you don't just plop the kid on the bench and say "Pay attention to what Trent does out there".

I like it too.

I have to put some blame on cameron. If you decide from day one, that he is going to sit a year, and learn. than you let him sit a year and learn.

You don't throw him to the wolves in some of the worst weather games we played all year, in some of the most hostile environments you will ever play in. (pitt,Philly).
I realize the fans were probably giving cam more heat than he could handle, so he pulled the trigger on beck, but if that was the case, than beck should have started the rest of the season.

IMO... putting him in, pulling him, putting him back in...etc etc etc, could do nothing but set him back.

This year is johns year to shine. I think he will do just that.

I agree..... i like the fact that he is putting his time in early with coach Lee

Thanks, nice read... And Cam was supposed to be such a great QB coach :rolleyes2:

He is, but he overextended himself as the HC and OC. That is one of my biggest gripes with Cameron.

That "QB guru" label wasn't given to him by the people here on DN, it was given to him by his peers, NFL people that know exactly what they are talking about. If people have a problem with Cam being labeled a "QB guru" or "great OC", go take it up with the professionals and tell them that they don't know more than the average fan.

Good point

I'm pulling for Beck, I think he has what it takes to be a solid QB in this league.

That bold part is one of the reasons I don't like Beck. Be a man a take the starting job. He doesn't have to be ****y, but at least try to sound confident! Sheesh! Don't do this P.C. golly gee wiz I hope I win, but shucks whatever's best for the team manure. Fans and players loved Marino becuase he projected confidence. It made everybody around him believe. That's a big part of the reason Marino was so great and a big part of the reason that Beck won't be.

You mean something like this direct quote:

``When the opportunity comes, I have to strike. I'm not coming in to say I'm shooting to be an average quarterback and I'll be happy with that. I have such a high expectation for myself. I'm trying to be the absolute best I can.''

The truth is it doesn't matter what he says you'll find a way not to like it.

if a seconed year QB who only played in 4 games went around saying that the job was his that would look alot worse. it doesnt matter what a football players says if Bech goes out there durinf tranning camp and takes it on the feild then what he says doesnt really matter. Marino would lead by example he would zip a 25 yard out pattern between two dbs thats how he projected confidence not by what he said to the meadia.

After the Bengals game, Beck walked over to Jason Taylor and looked him in the eye and said "I'm going to work hard in the offseason, I'm not going to let you down".

That right there shows me that he's a man. He knows who the leaders on the team are and he is man enough to walk up to them after a horrible season and right after a tough loss and look them in the eye. That's what a leader does, he may not be as vocal as some, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't possess those qualities.

actions speak louder than words, and i believe beck will shut up all of the haters with his hard work this offseason.
