LIONS WANT ADAMS, BECK?
A league source tells us that there are strong rumors among those who know Lions coach Rod Marinelli that the second-year head coach wants to land Clemson defensive end Gaines Adams in round one and BYU quarterback John Beck at the top of round two.
That's why the Lions want to slide back from the No. 2 overall spot; that's way too high to justify taking (and paying Adams). By moving down, they get Adams at a more reasonable spot -- and at a lower contract.
As to Beck, there's no guarantee he'll be there at the top of round two. As we suggested earlier in the day, someone could trade back into the bottom of round one to snatch Beck or one of the other second-tier quarterbacks before the Lions draft in round two.

Seems like Beck is becoming the Jay Cutler of last year.

Weaknesses:
Shorter than you would prefer...A bit older than the average prospect...Statistics were inflated by the Cougars wide-open attack...Will have to adjust to a pro style offense...Doesn't see the field well...Has too many passes knocked down...There are questions about his delivery...Struggles going downfield...Durability...Upside?

Notes:
...Excellent college player who is not the pro prospect his press clippings lead you to believe...Has a chance to play in the pros but he profiles as a backup or #3 signal caller at best.

I like what I have seen from Beck. However, I don't understand how he could rise anywhere near the first as I have read lately.

Maybe I should stick with my first pick. We all want Quinn, but if not I personally hope we snag Kolb.

Yeah...after seening the highlight reel of Kolb, I'm thinking he looks pretty good---anyone know what round he grades into?

Definitely 2nd the way things are starting to shape up. A while ago, I would have said mid 3rd, but now its looking like early to mid 2nd.

Becke completed 69% of his passes. Think about it. Essentially that is 7 out of 10 passes completed. Take away batted down balls, and drops by receivers, and that means he is on target about 80% of the time. That is just crazy. Add in his speed and quickness as demonstrated at the combine, and he seems like a viable option.

I hate this about the draft, how the hell did a guy improve his stock while sitting at home? There have been no games played, no workouts, maybe interviews but he'd have to be one hell of a charming guy to talk his way into the first round.
A week ago he was a third rounder, now he's a first round pick? Someone explain that to me, because I just don't understand what the hell has changed.

Some really nice passes in the highlights, looks like he has some good receivers too, they made some nice catches and got open a lot. Can we get them with Kolb as a package deal?

Trent edwards or drew stanton will do the best out of the other qb's

and i believe tyler palko will be a great steal in the later rounds at QB, he led the big east in Td's this past season without a good supporting cast
