I get "Sporting News Today" sent to inbox daily and today i was reading it and i came along an interesting tidbit in the nfl section.

"The trade market for Dolphins QB John Beck is heating up, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Chad Pennington will remain the starter until Chad Henne is ready, so Beck is the odd man out. Beck, an 07 second-rounder, has more trade value than many think because the 09 draft class doesn't offer many (any?) NFL-ready options."

Honestly, i don't know if beck is really NFL-ready, but he did have a year under Pennington to learn. Maybe he does have some value we really don't see?

As his Miami carreer is essentially over, if we could get anything inside a 5th for this guy, it'd be a massive bonus.

Wouldn't this article also imply that the trade market for any Qb with nfl experience is getting better?

I personally dont see why his value would be so high but we all shall see the answer soon maybe. I still guarantee that he will not garner higher than a 4th round pick at best.

I don't either, but it was nice to see John Beck's name in a national publication. If anything, he's on some people's radar.

probably the usual blood in the water crap. They think we will give him up for almost nothing so why not take a chance but I am fine with him staying if we can only get a 6th or a 7th.

I would take Beck over any qb coming out in this years draft with the one exception of Georgia's qb (Stanford).

Your team is in the run for the play-offs, who would you rather have as your 3rd stringer, Beck or an unproven rookie. Vise versa why give up Beck for an unproven 4th round QB? Thus is his value a 3rd rounder?

For no draft pick you can sign Frye, Losman or Grossman neither worse options than Beck and all with more experience.

I agree with Drfletcherdc. Beck is as good or better than any in this year's draft. I've seen Pat White (WVU) play in person a couple of times and believe he has qualities that could make him a surprise: Not only is he fast plus elusive and possesses a decent throwing arm (much like, but not as elusive as, Mike Vick) but seems to have a terrific attitude and personal values (much unlike Vick). He has that intangible of leadership and competitiveness too. If he could learn to read defenses and understand the game better, he could develop into a fine NFL QB. With a mentor like Chad Pennington, he might be worth a shot if Henne isn't the QB we all hope he will be. White's athletic ability would allow him to play elsewhere if QB doesn't work out for him.

Shoot, I'd rather have Ronnie as the third QB than Beck. At least Ronnie doesn't fumble the snap when he plays QB.

The ? will be is how high of a price tag will Losman and Grossman command, and will the GM live with that? They are both former 1st rounders. Part of the value process.

qb's in this year's draft I would rather have
Stafford
Sanchez
Freeman
Nate Davis
Rhett Bomar
Graham Harrel
hunter Cantwell
Curtis Painter

I dont like White as an NFL Qb but he is worth a look but would rather have Beck.
