“I think it’s going to be similar to recent history. I think they’re going to be right around .500. I have them at 7-9 but I think that whole group [Jets, Bills, Dolphins] are going to be within a game of each other. I think they’re going in the right direction.

“I don’t understand why they didn’t draft a better developmental quarterback.
“[Tannehill] is in his 4th year. The Dolphins have been in the mix every year. It’s year five, he has to get it done.”
“This is the kind of team that a quarterback needs to elevate for a game or two.

Same old tired shtick

When people who don't follow this team closely try to comment on it, they just come away looking so stupid

My thoughts exactly.

"he has to get it done" blah blah blah without examining the rest of the team around him. If he would have said he and team need to play better as a whole..

I still believe Tannehill is a fringe starter, HE does have to step up and win us some games. Otherwise I think he falls in the category of other guys like Matt Schuab, Sam Bradford, Alex Smith etc. Can we be competitive every year with a QB like that? If Tannehill doesn't elevate his game, I think he is a QB that can be replaced.

Progress. "elevating his game" is "it." I'll agree. The author was vague. Is winning the SB "it?" Winning a playoff game? Making the playoffs? Improving to top half of QBs? Did Tannehill get "it" done against Dallas? Without knowing "it," no one will know if he got "it" done.

The next time the offensive line provides consistent protection and some effective running game.....will be the first time.

Look how well the mighty Aaron Rogers looked last year when things resembled Ryan Tannehill's perpetual existence.

Not sure what is worse, the line about Tannehill or that you called Alex Smith a fringe starter.

I'd say those comments are on about the same level of absurdity.

To say Tannehill needs to step it up is accurate. He's going to have to drive our offense. We won't win with defense or run game

I'd like to see Tannehill play well at Buffalo or New England this year. It could be the difference between a playoff wildcard or another middle of the pack season.

Would be more accurate to say vs Buff/Jets.. He's always done pretty well against the Pats for whatever reason

I don't mind the notion of Tannehill "stepping up"...

Saying without the context to the team and the player around him is the issue. I still believe that if you can get average line play, he will be able to command the offense much better, hell he does a decent job while being pounded like a 12 year old Thai whore. Allow him to have a extra half second, let him work those progressions and you will see and offense that scores.
