Belicheat Misses Out on First Round HOF Selection!

If you want to punish him for spygate that's fine i suppose, but the Brady argument is ridiculous
What hall of fame coach did anything without a HOF QB? Parcells?
Shula had Unitas, Griese, and Marino for almost his entire coaching career
Shula didn't win a super bowl with Marino and missed the playoffs nearly half of the time he had Marino
Good point. Although how teams performed when those HOF QBs were out (injured), could be a pretty good measure.

Shula had a perfect season played with a backup QB for most of it. He got to a SB with Woodstrock! Broke the career wins record with Pederson on the road in Philly. Parcells won a SB with Hostetler.

Does he really belong in the HOF? He did absolutely nothing without Brady(Before or after), while Brady won a Super Bowl without Bellicheck.
Paul Brown won seven titles with Otto Graham and zero without him, does Paul Brown belong in the Hall of Fame?
Chuck Noll won four titles with Terry Bradshaw and zero without him, does Chuck Noll belong in the Hall of Fame?
Andy Reid won three titles with Patrick Mahomes and zero without him (in 27 years of coaching), are you going to keep him out of the Hall of Fame when the time comes?
Don Shula won two titles with Bob Griese and zero without him (in 33 years of coaching). Don Shula coached Johnny Unitas and Dan Marino for nearly 20 years without a single title. Does Don Shula belong in the Hall of Fame?
Tom Landry won two titles with Roger Staubach and zero without him, does Tom Landry belong in the Hall of Fame?
Bud Grant won zero titles in 18 years, does Bud Grant belong in the Hall of Fame?
Marv Levy won zero titles in 17 years, does Marv Levy belong in the Hall of Fame?
George Allen won zero titles in 12 years, does George Allen belong in the Hall of Fame?

Don’t forget Bill Walsh won four titles with Joe Montana and zero without him.

I assume that Spygate & Deflategate have come back to bite him in the ass?
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!
He'll get in sooner or later I'm sure, but for the winningest SB coach to NOT be a first-round selection?
Karma's a bitch isn't it, Billy!
All I care about is that he never gets Shula’s record.

Yeah, not a huge sample size, but Walsh was 17-23 without Montana and 13-21 without Montana/Young. So small, but big enough to get fired if that was one's whole record in today's NFL.

There’s a real difference between taking a principled stance and playing Hall of Fame morality games.

If voters truly believe Spygate or Deflategate disqualify Bill Belichick from the Hall, then exclude him outright. Don’t pretend a one-year delay is some noble stand, that’s just punishment theater.

Especially when Ray Lewis and Lawrence Taylor were first-ballot despite far more serious off-field scandals. The precedent has always been judging football greatness, not moral purity.

Making Belichick “wait a year” isn’t integrity, it’s voters taking it upon themselves to impose penance while still admitting he’s a no-brainer Hall of Famer.
More like they are after a pound of flesh for some perceived slight AND I deeply suspect Robert Kraft's hand in this too.

Here's how I would respond to that:

Belichick succeeded for two decades through multiple complete roster changes (except for QB) in a highly competitive league. Not only did he win six Super Bowls, he went to nine and had the Patriots in contention during almost his entire tenure. You have to go back to the Stone Age of the NFL to find coaches (Halas, Lambeau) who were that successful for that long. He's more impressive than they were because the league is much bigger and much more competitive than it was in the 1930s and 1940s. Belichick's career playoff record is 31-13 -- he actually has a higher winning percentage in the playoffs than in the regular season.

Tons of great coaches won all their titles with a single QB (I've listed a bunch above), but for some reason this only counts against Belichick. (And some HOF coaches never won a single title, never mind six.)

The argument against BB is his record without Brady, 83-104 or whatever it is. First of all, at best that's an argument that he's not quite as great a coach as his overall record would suggest; it's obviously not an argument against putting him in the HOF. Anyway, here's why I give the argument no weight. His non-Brady record consists of two components: the early years with the Browns (+1 year with the Pats), and the last few years after Brady left. The Browns were a lousy franchise in turmoil (they announced the move to Baltimore during his last year there) and he was a young guy who hadn't figured it all out. Even so, he managed to win the division and a playoff game one year (putting him ahead of any Miami coach of the past quarter-century). At the other end, Belichick was 68 when Brady left. At age 68 Lombardi was dead and Shula, Walsh, Noll, and just about every other Hall of Fame coach you can think of were out of the NFL. I don't put any weight on what he did when he was 70 just as I don't give any weight to how bad Willie Mays was in '72 or Muhammad Ali was against Leon Spinks and Trevor Berbick in assessing them. Even so, he made the playoffs post-Brady; it's not like the Pats went straight to hell.

If Belichick doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame because of Brady, then Don Shula should be nowhere near the HoF for absolutely wasting the prime of Dan Marino

Why waste the time arguing about Bill Belicech? Miami Dolphin fans should not waste their ****ing time one way or the other in regards to that douchebag franchise or it's douchebag fake-ass, spoiled, bitch-ass fans either.

Cheating multiple times. Got caught doing it...

Yeah, he should NEVER have been considered for First Ballot.

Whether he should or shouldn't get in I guess is debatable much like other greats who didn't get in or took a while due to cheating or other reasons.

No matter how good someone was, you don't reward cheating. Just my opinion
