I remember reading an article around draft time (sorry I don’t have a link) that had an interview with Bill Belichick. One of the questions asked of him (I don’t remember the exact question) was which one of the big 3 running backs (Ronnie, Caddy, Benson) would you draft if you had a choice. Belichick went on to say that if he was looking to win this year he would pick Caddy, if he was rebuilding and looking to win in 2-3 years he would draft Ronnie. This would lead one to believe that in Belichick’s opinion (one of the smartest football brains of all time I might add) he believes Caddy would get used to the NFL game a lot quicker then Ronnie and show results quicker but over the long haul Ronnie will be the better back. I would also like to remind everyone that Priest Holmes (arguably the second best back in the league) didn’t start lighting up the league himself (1 1000 yard season in his first 3 years) until about his fourth season. Also for anyone who’s going to bring up Caddy’s 2 100 yard plus games, remember last year Chris Brown started the season with 3 100 yard games and he was so impressive that Fisher went out and traded a draft pick for Travis Henry. The point of the story is $hit happens and we are a work in progress. So let’s enjoy the ride because as bumpy as it might be this year Wanny ball is dead and Saban’s taking us in the right direction.

The fact that excuses are being made for the #2 pick in the draft says it all. He was not the best back and it showed at auburn and it's showing now. Simple.

God almighty he's a rookie.... give him time!

The man is right and I'll take the word of the best coach in the NFL over a bunch of Fantasy Footall GM's anyday and a great point on Priest Holmes dude, your right on with that one.

I like the quote and I like the reasoning. I wish Belichick would have elaborated on why he said those things.

Nontheless, you cant change anyones mind at this point. The fact is that Ronnie is a #2 pick that has thus far has been outperformed by a #5 pick. This is all people will see untill Ronnie starts producing in any way. Logical or not.

I'm all for Ronnie developing over time. Just please dont make it a four year process ala Holmes. That would be unbearable.

It's ridiculous ain't it? :shakeno:

It's actually very scary.

An old saying applies here.
If brains were dynamite, many on here could'nt blow their nose.

Some people are just rediculous. Saban himself says the O-line is the biggest reason Brown has struggled. It is simple as that. He does not have any running room out there. But regardless, it has only been two games and people are already labeling him a bust. That is why Dolphins fans get a bad reputation. Too many of us jump to rediculous conclusions about the team and players. It wasn't only Saban that felt Ronnie was the best back available. Many, many people though he was not only the best back, but the best player in the draft and if you are ready to label the guy after two starts you need to wise up and learn a little something about the NFL.

true. how many people were calling Ricky a bust when he averaged 3.5 YPC after a 1800 yard season?

First off, I am not a fair weather fan, I have been a dolphin fan 25 of my 28 years and have never held my head in shame even last year. I just don feel like making excuses for the #2 pick. The bottom line is he has not shown a thing. Nothing, not flashes of greatness, not even flashes of averageness.(I know that is not a word) Sammie Morris looked better back there. And if you want to compare priest holmes situation, fine lets do it. Priest was a late pick and intended to be a back-up to earnest byner. Ronnie was #2 and according to some the centerpiece of an offense.

Slow down with the name calling, post count does not make you a better fan.

of course sammy looked better. hes experienced

ronnie a rook who played 2 games. who do youthink is gonna do better
