I'm told the #Patriots had a meeting with the veteran offensive linemen yesterday and told Vollmer about moving to guard, Cannon to tackle.

@BenVolin If so, then it doesn't speak volumes about their confidence in Kline

imo this would be their best move...cannon has done a pretty good job against our front when pressed into playing right tackle

I posted in another thread about this. I really believe we can win this game and I'll tell you why.

Brady is increasingly jittery in the pocket. He still has all the throws and the sheer will to win that makes him great, but it's a truism at this point that he isn't as comfortable under pressure as he was.

Brady just lost his blindside guard and isn't happy about it. There isn't really a ready-made replacement at left guard who has the same connection with their QB. It'll probably be Kline, who is a decent player, but that's not the point. The point is, Brady will need it proven to him in a game situation that the line can keep him safe. He's going to be a little more tentative/susceptible, in my view, than normal until the line proves itself.

We get to test that line in week 1. It's a work in progress and it going to be tested by one of the league's great d-lines, with added blitz heat. I really believe that line isn't ready for us yet and I think that'll have an effect on Brady, which is what we need to win.

They're talking about all kinds of shuffles to get the best guys on the field. It could be Solder, Kline, Connolly/Wendell, Vollmer, Cannon. It's a sign that they (read Brady) is still not happy the line is right. That's a new combo for the Pats and while they're all good players, the unit is only as good as the weakest link. If we can introduce doubt into the o-line and Brady, this could be a nice starting win.

There are other reasons why things might not pan out that way, but I think we're getting them at a great time to give Tom a dose of happy feet and snag a win.

I don't care who they play at RT. They better chip often or throw on quick 3 step drops because if not Wake is going to wreak some havoc.

Last year in Miami, Cannon gave up 3 QB hits and a hurry. Wake moved around, and had 1 sack, 5 hits, and 4 hurries. A repeat would be a VG thing.

Wake
Vernon
Starks
Mitchell
Odrick
Wheeler (hate to say it but he can get into the backfield in a hurry, if he can ever start securing a tackle he'd be dangerous on blitz packages)
And now McCain

They have all proven to be disruptive in the backfield, only preseason for McCain but I believe we got a gem. Brady is not the same QB once he gets sacked, we all know this, and this just might be our best pass rushing front since JT was here. I'll be in the corner endzone, watching the destruction LIVE!!

I think you mean they are going to be getting away with a ton of holds.

Lol yes, Wake gets held a lot…I think its because of how low he gets but I have no proof of that, but its basically impossible for a tackle to get underneath him. Held or not…he is one of the few players in this league that can single handedly wreck a game on defense.

Some of the stuff thats not called is so blatant. Shameful and definitely changes the game.

It doesn't matter really. They only have to hold their pass blocks for 1.5 seconds on avg. for most passes.

That's why they traded Mankins. He lost a step and had value and it just doesn't really matter....until they meet Mr. Mitchell. A guy who penetrates and is not a space eater. If crap comes up the gut, Brady is in trouble.

I see Kline playing LG and Vollmer at RT. Cannon is the swing so if he goes out there and gets hurt, they don't have much depth beyond that. Kline is a 2nd year guy. So there you have it, the genius has made himself an OL.....with no depth.

So he goes and gets a KR and backup safety?
