Personally I never understood why Bess was returning punts, he is NOT FAST. I think he averaged around 6 yds per return. UGH!! So I would rather see Livas returning punts, assuming he makes the team.

Bess did a little better than you think, I think he was definitely in the upper half in terms of average, just wasn't a HR threat. Livas hasn't flashed since the TD and we need to see more, but either way I'd like a more speedy/sure handed punt returner.

The better question would be Bess and 5 WR's vs. Livas and having 6 WR's, taking a spot from another position.

If both guys make the team, Livas is returning punts.

Bess averaged 11.4 yards per punt last year (on 25 returns). He's not going to break one for a TD but he'll get you good yards and he's smart enough to know when to let the ball go or just fair catch it.

Bess is solid and doesnt make mistakes. He does well at midfield. That is what I have been looking for in Livas. Is he making mistakes? so far no and he caught one with ease on the run even though he got tackled right away. He catches well and makes first guy miss.

Bess I want to keep connecting w/ chad on O and let someone else handle the duties so he can focus and he can just be a backup.

Bess will have the job. Livas isn't making this team

I really hope that Livas is kept to do it. It would be nice to have a home run threat receiving the Punts...

For the first time in forever, we have a legitimate THREAT at kick/punt returner in Livas that isn't a chicken (Ginn) and half of y'all can't wait to cut him. If he can add an additional couple of yards to each drive then he is well worth a spot on the final 53. There are about a half dozen or so players every game who never see the field so if he can prove to be dangerous on returns and provide some competency at all at receiver on hail mary passes or end arounds then why wouldn't we have him on the team. I will be severly pissed if he doesn't make the team and then goes elsewhere and lights it up!

Imo, Livas will have to show he can do more than return punts to make the team. That means either being #5 (or possily #6 receiver if that many are kept) or a deamon on kick/punt coverage.
