Best And Worst From Barry Jackson

I am not trying to defend him totally for his sorry-assed year, but Tyreek did have a wrist injury that required surgery. Say what we will about our expectations, but these guys are still human. Trying to block someone with that going on would hurt like a bitch for any of us. That said, defenses have figured us out and I think we need to find a way to maximize our resources as we adjust the strategy.
I hear you but at that pay rate, you need to be a superhuman. His wrist was injured but so was his attitude all year, that's what got me more. I saw a lot of hissy fits, quitting, and his never ending list of off field nonsense. Meanwhile, act like a captain, not like a baby. If he is staying on this team (not my preference) he has some serious recovering to do.

Agree.

The term and title "team captain" comes with certain expectations. It isn't, or shouldn't be an honorary thing.

Expectations are to be a team leader, set an example by putting in the work, setting the tone, encouraging teammates when needed and also admonishing when deserved.

Some ppl are natural leaders. That is that so not Tyreek.

As I understand it, the players vote on team captains. What were they thinking?

Well, when you have a team made up of marshmallows, what do you expect? This team has few on it with the do what it takes spirit. That fish rots from the head and McD just seems comfy letting them all self soothe as opposed to kicking them in the ass. We have Tua with the "if we get to the playoffs I can play" comment, Tyreek quitting. When the lion of your team is a one year 38 year old rental - Calais.....

lol @ Cam Smith.

Not bothered by Achane’s pass blocking grade - he’s small and shouldn’t be doing much of that anyway.

Is there anything Julian Hill did well? To go w his 469 penalties, “Hill allowed a sack and five pressures in 50 pass blocking snaps.” he was a terrible pass blocker too.

Need to compare him to small fast WRs. I doubt many do well in pass pro,

totally different point. bottom line his run blocking was terrible last year and it wasnt the fault of the guards. can he get better? sure. will he be good, anybodys guess at this point. he didnt show it last year, and that was on him, not eichenberg
Yeah sure, putting a rookie out there with the worst guards in the league is exactly the same if he was on the Eagles or Chiefs - it had zero impact.

yup. defenses have figured us out. yac yards way down for both waddle and tyreek. i guess opposing defenses decided to give us the dumpoffs to jonnu smith and achane as the trade.

the issue is no achane individually, the issue is we have a team full of guys with that profile. all small, fast, quick. not enough beef. both sides of ball. therefore we get mauled by physical teams, and on the road in inclement weather. poorly built roster. designed to feast on mediocre teams, at home, in 90 degree heat.

he was also one of the guys that was constantly late....and he retained his captaincy the whole year while behaving this way. granted, the dolphins were kind of stuck at that point after the silly extension. take the captaincy away, he probably goes completely off the rails. the problem is the deal they handed out as much as it is tyreek. they should have known....

Agree completely, but without knowing how small receivers on other teams grade out, it is difficult to determine if TH is poor or 'typical' for his body size. Also WHO was he blocking? That matters.
Like most (all?) here, I REALLY want some big possession type guys.

its not just the skill position players that fit the small and quick mold. our center. chop. linebackers. everything built around small and fast. even worst, our small and fast linebackers can't seem to be able to cover anyone. even if chop is good, i wonder if he will ever be good on the road in inclement weather on slippery turf. i cannot imagine a roster being built this way ever being successful in the playoffs. we are too far to one side of the guardrail. our performance running the ball on 3rd and short speaks volumes. we cannot get push. heck we can't even run a QB sneak. our whole team looks like mcdaniel!

Rumor from where?

Asking so I can determine if it's a credible source, or someone pulling something out their a$$.
I heard it on the Joe Rose show. I also heard Omar and I think I heard the Big O saying it. I also think Crabbs talked about it but he could have just been repeating one of these guys.

Fair enough....

Because Paul is a rookie, full stop.
In 2023, Paul was the best-graded pass-blocking OT in FBS. Overall, he was 10th best. His run blocking though, while a decent grade was quite a bit below his pass blocking. He is going to be a work in progress when it comes to run blocking.
In 2022, Paul was graded the 2nd pass blocking OT throughout FBS. The only one higher was Peter Skoronski.

Some interesting ones in here. Terrible blocking by Tyreek and Patrick Paul. Lots of guys on the team that can't block. Also Achane and Jonnu Smith. This is how the team is built. Poor OL complemented with fast players that can't block. Bad yards after catch from Tyreek and Waddle. We have been figured out. Linebackers still cannot cover.

▪ Best pass blockers (minimum 50 pass blocking snaps): 1). Terron Armstead, who allowed just 16 pressures and three sacks in 501 pass-blocking snaps. 2). Kendall Lamm, who yielded 12 pressures and no sacks in 336 snaps as a pass blocker. 3). Center Aaron Brewer, who permitted just two sacks and 14 pressures in 714 pass blocking snaps.
▪ Worst pass blockers (minimum 50 pass-blocking snaps): 1). Guard Isaiah Wynn, who yielded a sack and five pressures in 70 pass-blocking snaps. 2). Tackle Jackson Carman, who gave up one sack and three pressures in 50 pass-blocking snaps. 3). Guard Liam Eichenberg, who relinquished two sacks and 29 pressures in 644. All three of those players will be free agents next week. Couple notes: Among non-offensive linemen, running back De’Von Achane and tight end Julian Hill were rated Miami’s worst pass protectors. Achane permitted a sack and six pressures in 19 pass-blocking snaps. Hill allowed a sack and five pressures in 50 pass blocking snaps. Robert Jones yielded the most sacks (five), but PFF rated him 12th of 19 Dolphins who pass blocked. Jones will be a free agent next week.
▪ Best run blockers (minimum 50 run blocks): 1). Armstead. 2). Brewer. 3). Receiver Jaylen Waddle.
▪ Worst run blockers (minimum 50 run blocks): 1). Receiver Tyreek Hill (he blocked on 316 runs and PFF gave him dismal grades). 2). Receiver Malik Washington (139 run-blocking plays). 3). Tight end Jonnu Smith (120). Note: Rookie tackle Patrick Paul graded out as Miami’s worst run-blocking offensive lineman and by a large margin.
▪ Best yards after catch average (minimum 15 receptions): 1) Achane at 8.5. 2) Since-released running back Raheem Mostert at 7.5. 3). Jonnu Smith at 5.9.

Wow man, just wow. This is so depressing in so many ways. And a few people here still defend grier

Kion showed some upside. I don't think he's a starter yet, but I have no issue with him as a back up. I hope they have learned their lesion. Rumor was Grier wanted to address the line last year, but McDaniel talked him out of it and said his scheme would hep the line...we all know how that went.

I expect at least one starting caliber guard to be signed and one drafted.
Wtf? What rumor? Do post a link or something showing this rumor please.

"Were not as worried about the o line as you guys are"

Ok I seen your reply to Mach. But I'm calling nonsense one hearing it on Joe Rose. I listen to him almost every single morning and I've never heard him say that...
