Here is some stats for you guys what you think? Best d dolphins had in a long time? opinions?:dolphins:

It's a pretty good unit, but not the best. Had Jim Bates had a SHREAD of creativity in him, our D under his watch would've really kicked tail. Just because you CAN beat people most of the time simply by rushing 4, and playing press man coverage doesn't mean you SHOULD do it 100% of the time.

LOL! I do remember getting very frustated with some of his defensive packages. Our coverages were just ridiculous sometimes.

rushing 4 worked great i hope we stick with that and blitz here and there..we have the players for it so give it a try..

Nice Post Fish D....I think this D is very good....unfortunately the offense wasn't there earlier in the year to help us out. Cute dog you got there.

It was kind of a bend but don't break system and wait for a big play from the DL. The corners were always 10 yards off the recievers and we ALWAYS gave up short routes. I know it's better than the big gainers but it just got frustrating. He kind of just let the players play and always left Madison and Surtain on an island because they were good enough. I think a better system would have resulted in an even better performance those years.

This is definitly one of the best defensive units the Fins have had.

It's kind of a catch 22 for me. While we have a lot of young guys who look to be big time impact players for the future, the 2 best defensive players the Dolphins have ever had are in the twilight of their careers. I'm very excited for Bell, Allen, Daniels, Will Allen, Crowder and Roth.

One of the reasons I think it is so good is because it has a good combination of veterans and younger guys.

Exactly what I was thinkin.... but considering how simple it was, they played great under Bates

my understanding is that wanny kept it that way. when bates became HC, we did more on defense.

when daryl gardener was healthy, our defense was better than it is now
