Gotta go with 97. My heart bleeds thinking about what could have been. Green had the potential to be a bigger, better, faster Chris Chambers. God, what could have been???????

Madison, Taylor, Rodgers, Smith, E Perry......very productive bunch. Not too many drafts in the whole NFL paid off(and is still paying off) like this one. We traded Tanner too, so he was half valuble.

96 I'd rank second, and 98 would be 3rd. Those 3 drafts basically make up our whole defense. Thank God JJ was there then.

1997, for sure. Madison and Taylor are franchise-type players.

I think the three biggest late round steals were Thomas in the 5th, Norman Hand in the 5th, and Dave Moore in the 7th. Too bad that we only kept on of them. :yell:

Most definitely 1997!! Ditto the sentiments of those above. :D

If we were going for the worst draft class, I'd certainly have to give that one to the 1999 crew. Out of that whole group we basically got Konrad. Everyone else except Haley, who is a career backup, is no longer on the team. Besides that fact, there were two major busts in that draft by the names of Collins and Johnson. JJ knew how to spot defensive talent but couldn't draft an offensive player to save his life. :nono:

1999 is easily the worst, 2000 isn't that great either but we had no first rounder due to a bad trade with Carolina which I think gave us Mixon.

I wouldn't really consider Collins a bust. I mean, he was a fifth rounder. He just didn't pan out. I would consider JJ a bust, though, as he was our first pick that year.

As for him not being able to draft an offensive player to save his life, he drafted Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, and some other talent on offense at Dallas. He just wasn't so lucky with us...

We got Surtain with the Carolina pick.

I give the edge to '96
starters or major contributir include
Daryl Gardener, Karim Abdul-Jabbar, Stanley Pritchett, Jerris McPhail, Shane Burton, Zach Thomas, Shawn Wooden and Jeff Buckey

if either Brew or Pointer made the team, it would have change our draft history since we would not needed Sam or Pat.

'97 is a close 2nd
and '92 3rd with 1992 Troy Vincent, Marco Coleman, Larry Webster, Dwight Hollier and Dave Moore. 92 should have been the best draft just because we had 2 #1's.

39, I have to disagree, Collins was a bust. The guy was touted as a first round talent and turned out to be a first rate felon. I'd put Yatil Green or Larry Shannon in the category of players that just didn't pan out but when you have a player with such tremendous talent who blows it because he's a criminal then he is classified as a bust.

I gotta agree with 39. Collins was not a bust. No he didn't work out. But we didn't lose any big investment with him. That was the whole draw. He a VERY low risk. After all, we got J.J. Johnson in the same draft. He was the guy that was supposed to save the ground game. He was the sure thing. When JJJ didn't pan out, it made the Diesel pick look worse than it was.

 Collins was in the lousy 99 draft. I went with '96
