Here's a little spinoff of another thread. Which playoff game do you consider the best in Dolphins history? I know that the 1981 game against San Diego comes to mind in a lot of peoples minds, but the only downfall of that game is that we lost. A lot of us can't remember the glory days of the early 70's very clearly, I was 6-7 years old. I would have to say that the 1994 wildcard game vs. KC. You have two of the best QB's to ever play, (Joe Montanta vs. Dan Marino). The first half, neither one could miss, they were both on fire. Halftime score was 17-17 and the Dolphins shut out Montanta in the second half to win 27-17. Other games to consider was the 1990 game vs. KC where Marino brings the Dolphins back from being down 16-3 to win 17-16. I also think the playoff game in 1971 vs. KC. Longest game ever. Seems to me that the best playoff games were against the Chiefs.

1985 vs. Cleveland, down 21-3, and we came back to win 24-21 before turning it over 6 times vs. the Pats in the Championship game. Otherwise, we'd have been in the Super Bowl vs. the 1985 Bears.

The three that stick out that were wins
MIA vs. KC
Mia vs. SEA (OG had an awesome catch to win it) (followed it with 62-7)
Mia vs. Ind (Lamar Smith 200+ yds to win in OT)

How old are you, about 12?

Doesn't it seem strange that in the games mentioned so far, that we trailed in all? All of those so far, we had to come from behind.

1974 Super Bowl...

The last pure fullback to play the game, Csonka, ran for 145 yards and the team just crushed the Vikings. It was over by halftime, and the Fins just ground them into the turf. O Lineman just love a game like that. Pound the ball down the field, and never let up.

Christmas Day 1971...the longest game ever and the start of great things for the Miami Dolphins in the years to come.
I`d also go with the Cleveland playoff game we won in 1972. A blocked punt was what turned that game in our favor, and kept us unbeaten.
The 1984 AFC Championship game against Pittsburgh. We rang up 45 points on the Steelers, Marino and Duper were in the zone that afternoon.
Probably go with the 1990 playoff win against KC too. Marino came oh so close to having that out pattern to Clayton be picked off by Albert Lewis, but we scored on it. Loved it that Nick Lowery missed the game winning kick.

The Indy game with Lamar Smith was awesome. Jay was having a real bad day, so we never stopped handing the ball off in the second half. Amazing win. However, Smith couldn't walk the rest of the week and had like 9 yards the next game...

Beating Buffalo with Doug Flutie at QB a couple years back. Trace Armstrong laid one on him on the last play as they were trying to score. I think the team crushed a box of Flutie Flakes as well. But we arrived injured the next week.

I'd have to say Marino's last win!! Up in Seatle he drove us down the field and won the game... Then we have the worse playoff game against the Jags!!

My favorite is the win over KC in the '90 playoffs. It was our first time in the playoffs since '85, and Dan led a classic drive at the end of the game for the win, with a pin-point pass to Clayton just out of the reach of the defender. Dan was on the SI cover later that week as "the man."

Maybe it was the lack of playoff action for so long before that game, but it really felt good!

That was one hell've throw. He put that in a 12x12 inch spot and no one could have even touch that pass except for Clayton. I play that play over and over on tape and even today, some 15 years later, I still go WOW!

That was my first Dolphin game to watch. I have been
hooked since.
