I know the main guys up front. But looking for value later in the draft, who are some guys that are among the best for being a pure NT?

I like:
Davis from Bama
Lawrence from LSU
Williams from Mich State

Jeez after the 1st? I hope they don’t draft an NT until the 6th or 7th round

Davis has a ton of talent, but has been a bit of an underachiever. Also, I don't think he's a real good fit at nose tackle. Might take him in the 3rd round, though. Miami could use him at DE and DT and maybe Flores could get the best out of his skills.

The two that I have keyed upon are Benito Jones and Bravvion Roy. Both are shorter, squattier men. Neither can be expected to provide much of a pass-rush, only being suited to zero or one technique work. These guys would only play on run downs, and their entire reason for existence is to eat up double teams. Exactly what we are looking for.

One of our 5th round picks should go to one of these wide men.

Davon Hamilton would get my vote

Exactly. That roster has so many players it's criminal. When in doubt in a middle to later round look there. It is still disgusting that Ohio State blew that semifinal game to a Clemson team that did not match up well with LSU at all.

When Chase Young was suspended Hamilton really picked up the pressure from the interior. Not any type of dependable pressure. Mostly a pusher. But he is so big strong and relentless that occasionally the pile finds him. He does make a surprising number of run tackles for a loss. Takes slant angles and pursues well in short space.

Great person also. I think we'll see more of that from this regime, as opposed to cringe worthy dull-eyed interviews like Dion Jordan.

Looks like a Steelers lineman

Overall I'm not thrilled with this crop below the top. Seemingly everybody has problems. The Utah kid is a fireplug but you'll never get anything out of him otherwise. The Nebraska kids are limited athletically. The Mississippi kids are undisciplined and get their back turned too often.

The interior guys tested poorly as a lot. I didn't look at as many low tiered defensive tackle and nose guard types this season. Only Hamilton checked virtually everything I was looking for. Even Lawrence doesn't thrill me but maybe I'm still influenced by that game against the Canes to open the 2018 season. LSU defenders were flashing all over the place. He was mostly getting upright and running around with no particular purpose in mind.

I like Fotu and Hamilton as well.

Not sure either are 3/4 NT's though.

He said nose tackle not punter...

I wouldn't mind taking a stab at one in the 6th or 7th also, but I'd definitely invest a high pick. I could see late 2nd/early 3rd.

A true NT frees up Wilkins and makes him more dangerous. Helps everything up the middle and linebackers will be able to stay clean more often. That's big news for all the linebackers including Jerome Baker.

IF QB does not work out at 5 then I would happily put Derek Brown in the middle of the defensive line.
