I'm football biased and a dolphin fan, so it isn't really fair for me to argue.

But Marino broke every legitimate passing record that there was and often times kept an otherwise mediocre team competitive. He was able to do that in a game that is way more team oriented than basketball.

Not to mention Dan was a great athlete, as he was a great baseball prospect before joining the NFL.

It is hard to disagree, but it is true that many people from all different sports professions say that QB is by far the hardest position to play in all of professional sports so by that assessment Dan should have been #1 and Wilt #2

Yes, I would think that being a dominant QB in the NFL would be much more difficult than being a dominant 7-footer in basketball. I have very limited basketball skills, but if you added 18 inches to my height, I could find a way to score some points in the NBA. There's absolutely nothing I could add that would make me in any way, shape or form a competent QB in the NFL.

So yes, I definitely think Dan should have been #1.

Dan is great and all......

But wilt scored 100.......averaged 50ppg and 25rpg in a season...and he won two titles...

i know dan broke records, but its not like wilt didnt break any records too...

cant really argue with their pick

Notice Brady is the best athlete to ever wear 12...sheesh.
Brady is the best athelete to wear 12. Some of the numbes are easier to win than others. Example number 47 is an easier number to win than a number like 3, 23, 13, 4 ect..

I'm a Marino homer as big as anybody. Both he and Wilt were absolutely dominant in their sports, and both are equally worthy...except Wilt bagged 25,000 women. That kinda pushes him over the edge.

Joe Namath ugh. Has this guy dated every sportswriter or something. He seriosuly was not that good. He had skills but he really ddi not get it done except that one season.

Best Player to Wear 13

Only Two Player have worn 13 for the Dolphins
Jake Scott MVP Super Bowl VII
Dan Marino Greatest QB in the NFL and HOF
Both were the best at what they did.....

The thing about Wilt Chamberlain is that he dominated in an era when players were much smaller. Bill Russell was his toughest competition and he was 6'9", 215 lbs. He had a destinct advantage of Being 7'1" tall and weighing 275 ilbs, towering over everyone else and being gifted athleticlly it was kind of like a high school kid playing agains't elementry school children.

Marino didn't have that kind of advantage and did all of his with his skill, athletic abilities and intelligence but thats JMO.
