My list (top 3)

3. Griese/Marino
2. Montana/Young
1. Untitas/ Manning

Thoughts?

The difference, of course, is Montana and Young played on the same 49er teams in the late '80s and early '90s. That's an interesting way to look at it, rather than the entire history of the franchise.

Another top duo via the initial criteria is Staubach and Aikman for Dallas, both Hall of Famers once Aikman gets in.

Bradshaw/Rothlesberger

It's a little early but the potential is definitely there.

Tarkenton Culpepper maybe.
well since you mention tarkenton, here's my vikings list...

1) tarkenton
2) cunningham
3) culpepper
4) george

all 4 did great in minny... i put culpepper at 3 just because he has shown that he does not adapt well to changes in systems... the others seemed to do well regardless who was the OC and what receivers they had.

how the hell could you forget Ray Lucas????

You'er right. That was absolutley the lowest point I have EVER felt regarding our QB position. He was the only QB that made me miss Fiedler. I still remember the Monday night game against Green Bay.

I always liked Jeff George, I don't know why but I did.

Here's a decent QB trio. Not worthy of a top 3 list though.

Ray Lucas is a college football broadcaster now. I saw him doing commentary on a UAB/Marshall game last weekend
