“I think a big part of our philosophy, when I say our philosophy, me, Bill [Parcells] and Jeff [Ireland], has always been to have big corners," coach Tony Sparano said. "It really has. So we like big corners. In fact, we’ll take smaller corners in some situations off the [draft] board. And they might just be good players for other people just maybe not for us. So we kind of really wanted to have big corners. It’s something that we believe in."

and I hope it translate to pads..that when we lose OTA's and mini camp standouts..

Definitely. After the draft, I was more concerned with his ability - than Davis' - to pick up CB at the pro level. Looks like he's outperforming Davis so far.

can't wait to see themon the field. i think the surprise so far may very well be Turner.

I wanna see Davis and Smith on the field with Allen in Nickel packages...Along with Bell and Wilson we will have small holes for an opposing QB to fit the ball through.

Already bought tickets for the 1st pre-season game in Tampa, so i can see the rookies and Henne get a lot of playing time....August 27th seems so damn far away though----

Aside from his length, Smith sets him self apart as someone who can produce turnovers. I still think Davis has a better chance at being an elite CB, but Smith's better at getting the football. Hoping we'll have two elite CB's. And, as I mentioned in a previous post, they're perfect fits for our system.

I want to see Smith do great, but don't read too much into his starting in OTAs...like that moron Armando has...

All they are doing is mixing and matching folks at a lot of positions...don't be surprised if Davis is starting next....or back to Green...

lucky

Dude you guys that are close are SO lucky!! Living in colorado i have to make a very expensive effort to get to a game or two each season. Usually ends up being a thousand dollar weekend.

I look forward to that first situation where Smith is up against TO or Moss and jumps with them and........interception Sean Smith !!!!!!

This is going to be like Langford starting before Merling last year. Smith will start this year before Davis.

depending on who we play i would be suprised to see Green and Allen start than have some downs where our 2 cb's are Smith and Davis or any mix of the guys

You are down playing the pride of being on the first team. Reguardless of what time of the year it is players want to be starters and get onto the field as much as possible. Running with the first team is the first step to that.

It may not seem like a big deal to you but the coaches know how the players feel about it, and they can use it as a motivational tool or as reward for stellar play.
