One of the many very smart things Saban did this past season is that he chalked up the season to development for many young guys, be it due to the need for physical development or injury recovery.

Vickerson, Manny Wright (barely played), Shirdonya Mitchell, Poole (injury), Wade Smith, & Alabi all fit under this category. I would add Roth even though he played more frequently than the others. That is quite a bit of talent that can be infused next year, almost like a whole draft class in and of itself. Hopefully, these guys are going to tear it up this offseason, and come in fit (are you listening Manny?), bigger, stronger, and with more knowledge.

Throw in a new draft class (and add some new redshirts), and some free agents and we can really inject this team with lots of new talent.

good post bro

I agree..and because of this "redshirt class coming back" I see this year as a possibly bigger turnaround than the last one

Considering all these guys, that's why I want QB and LB to be adressed before any other position

Good points. I gotta tell ya, it's an exciting time!

This is all part of Saban's plan, however, Wright, Vickerson, Poole, Mitchell, etc all have to prove something first...but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to Saban...oh, and BTW, Nick if you're listening...we need a QB !!!

If Saban is truly in for the long haul, imho, he will do whatever is necessary to secure a good QB in the draft. He has enough prospects and will still be able to draft players in future drafts...however....a great QB can last more then a decade and is essential to having a winning team.

Is it true that Shirdonya Mitchell runs a 4.25/40? Teh next Ogunleye who got injured in college and dropped off the draft board? Does he return kicks?

Thats why we gotta wonder if guys like Traylor will be around. I want him here but there is only so many roster spots and if he drafts another DT/DE type, you gotta wonder.

I think Poole proved plenty in his rookie year. He's more of a "prove the injury bug is gone" kind of guy.
