I know it seems obvious to some that Ronnie would be the bigger blow but losing Ferg might turn out to be harder to recover from. I don't mean this as a doom and gloom thread because I'm holding out hope that Soliai, McDaniel or Starks will step up, time will tell. I also think the loss of Brown won't depend as much on Ricky stepping up as it will on Hillard preforming in the #2 role.

That o-line, ricky, lex and polite can easily keep the running game going. Running back I believe may be the most overated position in football. Most good backs have good vision and can make people miss, it usually comes down to oline blocking. I've seen way too many average backs dominate behind very good olines. Our ilb aren't good enough to compensate without a powerful run stopping nt.

Fergie and its not close. This is a huge blow to our top 10 run defense, i'd be surprised if we're still top 10 by years end.

Ricky and Lex will make up for the tough loss, though the wildcat will suffer. As you can see last thursday, all we did with it was line up a few token times, then ricky up the gut. Didnt even have anyone in motion.

Brown, there are more factors to figure in than just our talent behing these guys. Such as Ricky Williams NOT wanting to carry the load. The wildcat is also now all but dead(a blessing for some of you that don't like it however). I also happen to think the DL rotation will do just fine without Fergy.

Point in case Denver and their plug a back system of the last ten years. It wasn't the backs it was the line.

Ferg will be missed the most. It will affect the Line backer play and the secondary and of course the obviousness of the D-line.

The silver lining in all of this will be whether Soliai can step it up and be a starting 3-4 nose for the team. If he can it will make the 2010 draft much easier on the front office, if not we will be scrambling to address nose in the off season.

I went with Ferguson based on the health of the backups. If everyone were healthy, I would probably go with Ronnie.

the loss of Ferguson hurts us more than the loss of Ronnie...with Ronnie done for the season,we still have Ricky, and Hilliard to back him up,with Polite as the FB,and our OL to help open the holes...with Ferguson done, yeah we have Soliai,McDaniel,&Starks, but we really don't know how they're gonna do as our NT,so that leaves a huge ? mark there...

Ferguson. Losing Ronnie was a huge blow to our offense and our team, but we have outstanding depth at running back. Losing Ferguson at nose is bigger because Soliai is still to up and down and even if he comes out and plays lights out for the rest of the year we don't have a true nose tackle behind him.

Brown's injury is more important for media/talking-head chatter.

Ferg's injury matters far more on the football field.

Ferguson for sure....we haven't shown that we can stop the run without him yet and that will help everything about the defence.....I hope I'm wrong but Soliai doesn't seem to be the answer and will need to take care of NT in the offseason

Soliai will be beasting soon. With McDaniel helping, we will be set. Maybe even better.
