I never thought this was a playoff team, but I truly did expect them to punch above their weight all year. There have been a lot of dissapoitments -- Frerrote, Chambers, mcMike etc. But the one that really has me shaking me head is Linehan. I was fooled. i really thought this guy was going to draw the best out of the medicore players we had. But man, does this guy not want to take a freakin' hint.
Most coaches pray for a running game that averages close to 5 yards a carry, and he does his best to ignore it. We should have seen it coming, I guess. Linehan isn't the genious he was marketed as. Think about it. What did he do in Minn? Culpepper to Moss, where the latter outran his CB, or outjumped him. It wasn't rocket science. There was no running game, despite running lanes everywhere; there was no TE involvement. When Moss got shut down. The Vikes lost. Period. He's a huge failure.

Personally I think we need to give Linehan a little more time but once he gets a good QB and a Strong WR in here then I think he should start getting his act together. I also think him having Ricky and Ronnie throws off his gameplan. I dont think he is used to having to get the ball in the RB's hands to make plays. Lets give him a little while longer.

A bad coach tries to make the players fit his system....a great coach makes the system fit his players. Shula always tried to fit his planning around the players he had....not the other way around.

Fair enough. I'm not exactly suggesting we cut him loose right away. But I think there should be demands placed on him. Nothing too radical -- but along the lines of "when one or both of your RBs is busting off 8 yards a play, then perhaps call the rest of the game around that.?"
