Miami's failure to land Orton

Make it happen, general manager Jeff Ireland. There's a reason those Dolphins fans with no jobs were chanting "we want Orton" at Monday's scrimmage. When I saw that the Kyle Orton trade was "dead," I was really surprised.
Chad Henne can't get the ball downfield. Leave the "no weapons" garbage at the door: He had as good of a supporting cast as Tampa Bay's Josh Freeman, and look at what the latter did with a bunch of rookies. Fans are tired of three-and-outs in Miami, and although not the final solution, Orton would be a very nice bridge to landing a franchise quarterback in the interim.

Funny cause on the Broncos boards (where like Henne, 90% of em want him gone), he's literally called "3 and Out Orton" With a 60.8 3rd down QBR rating, in 2 seasons losing 7 more games than he's won, imploding in the red zone and being accused by his fans of putting their D in bad positions, maybe the best trade is one we didn't make, ya think? This guy might be worth a 4th straight up as a transitional bandaid, although I can see our "braintrusts" giving up a 3rd out of desperation. However to give up the 2nd or even a 3rd along with one of our starting DLs like Starks or Langford, or Soliai, not even Merling, for this over-hyped journeyman loser, and then tying up cap space with the huge contract extension he demanded....would have been ridiculous. The FO can justifiably be tarred for some questionable moves now and in the past BUT in this case Props to Ireland for not bending over for Elway and crew.

We all gotta get behind henne now, he now gives us the best chance to win, he has shown flashes in the past of being a good NFL qb, just protect the ball and let the defense keep us in the game.

Yep another "head scratching" scoop by the Dolphins that the media completely whiffed on once again. No wonder they rank it low. Just because everybody is reporting on it and it doesn't happen, doesn't make it the wrong move . . . especially with the price involved to acquire him.

The guy was 3-10 as a starter last year . . . you know the last guy that had decent stats on a losing team that we acquired? Tyler Thigpen . . . I rather get a guy who has won big games or just wait. I'd take David Garrard over Kyle Orton . . . most definitely.

Nfl.com would probably make it a head scratching move if we gave up a 3nd rd pick for him too. Damned if we do, damned if we don't.
