i never thought about this until recently, but the bills comeback from 35-3 down against oilers in playoffs may have cost us a super bowl appearance. bills ended up killing us in the afc championship game 2 weeks later. if they lose that game we play pittsburgh or houston in championship game and who knows what happens. pittsburgh was the 1 seed so we would have played them on the road, houston would have played at home.

Or we could have just beat the Bills in the AFC championship game and played the Cowboys for the Super Bowl.

I have thought this for 20 years. The Bills were (and are, lol) a terrible match up for us. No answer for Thurman. We matched up better against Hou/Pitt and even a hypothetical Super Bowl against Dallas.

That was our year. Finally we had home field advantage for the playoffs. We fell apart. Turnover after turnover. We couldn't beat the Bills in the 90's. We can't beat them in the 2010's until...TONIGHT!

I thought the Oiler team was the most talented in the AFC at the time but they weren't mentally tough and could never get over that hump.

Dallas would have killed any AFC team that year.

since your last SB app in '84 I think the next best dolphin team was 1994, I think if you beat SD you would have beaten Pitt but again the NFC champ was so much better than any of the AFC teams in that era so it would have been a SB loss but still a SB app.

yea the '94 team was marino's last legitimate shot to make the super bowl. they loaded up in '95 to make 1 more run with shula but that team completely fell apart after a great start. miami had legit shots to make super bowl from '92-94. we played an awful championship game in '92, marino injury derailed us in '93, and we choked away the charger playoff game in '94. havent gotten close since.

I was just watching that "5 Reasons" show on ESPN classic, and it was 5 reasons Dan Marino didn't win a super bowl.

No running game, terrible defenses, too much reliance on Marino, Buffalo Bills, and Jimmy Johnson

Ultimately they really did Dan a disservice, if he had the kind of roster Kelly had, we'dve won 3 or 4. So upsetting. Growing up in Bills country those were painful years. And until this recent run of Bills dominence I had almost blocked it out. I really hope we put a Grade A ass whooping on them tonight!!!

P.S. I definitely cried after that 92 game, and got in a fight about it at school the next day too.

Oh to be 6 again.
