James Hardy II has been a major problem in Ft.Wayne and it is known that when James was Drafted by the Bills his so called father started trying to get to him and his family. Reports are that he had been calling asking for money and threatening to make things hard for the family if his son didn't take care of him financially.
James W. Hardy II told Fort Wayne Police officers that his son “did not do anything to him,” according to the incident report, and that his son is angry with him for spending much of his son's childhood in prison. Fort Wayne Police were called to the home, in the 2900 block of Weisser Park Avenue, at 1:26 p.m. Sunday in reference to a 911 hang-up. When a 911 dispatcher called the number back, a 73-year-old woman who lives at the home said Hardy was armed.
When police arrived, the woman said Hardy, also known as James W. Hardy III, had come over to the home and that suddenly she heard a loud noise in her back yard. She looked out to see Hardy “beating up” his 43-year-old father, according to a police report.
The woman said the younger Hardy pulled out a black gun when she yelled for him to stop, according to the report. He then left in his white Cadillac truck. Records indicate Hardy has a permit to carry a gun for protection until 2011.
Hardy's father explained to officers his son is always angry at him, the report said, because of the prison time he served when Hardy was young. The elder Hardy was imprisoned for forgery, armed robbery and dealing cocaine during separate prison stints from 1987 through 2001, according to Indiana Department of Correction records.
Police then arrested Hardy's father for an outstanding warrant in Kosciusko County, where he's wanted for failing to appear on a violation of driving with a suspended license. He was booked into Allen County Lockup but was no longer at the facility this morning.
This morning, the elder Hardy said there was no altercation and no gunplay involved. “I love my son,” he said numerous times. “My son and I, our relationship is fine.” He said he wished to put closure on the incident.
