Blatter: 2018 WC should be held in a CONCACAF country

I sure do hope its in the U.S. That would be so nice. I can actually see our nation supporting it largely.

I would love for this to happen....Id travel to all of the matches that I could...

I hope the US gets it. I remember when it was here in '94 it was friggin' sweet. I got to go to see Russia Vs. Cameroon. It was awesome.

USA would probably get it, but I'd fly over to Mexico If they where the hosts and I'd watch a few games.

I'll be surprised If USA doesn't win that bid because of how many stadiums the US has and how succesful the one in 94 was.

Yeah, but don't forget they "promised" us 2010. Why do you think the US instituted project 2010? We were confident it would be our turn to hold it.

Oh, and wasn't England more or less robbed by Germany in hosting it last time around? So, 2018 is just way too far away to make good predictions about.

In other news...Bornstein will be out for 6 weeks with an injury...and US has scheduled a friendly in Cali against China before the start of the Gold Cup.

And Mexico beat Venezuela 3-1 without the european guys.

USA already had a crack at hosting

If Blatter makes it a CONCACAF country Canada will have a chance. They would be the long shot but I would not concede USA being the host

It's really quite simple why the US would get the WC 9 out of 10 times if it was held in North America (probably that's an understatement): economics.

When the US held it, it was the single most successful WC in terms of revenue and worldwide exposure. The only reason Mexico held it before the US was because the US was too disinterested in such a "foreign" event back then.

Really, the only reason it's South Africa this time is because the idea of "going global" is symbolically more important for FIFA than a big one-time paycheck. But, this is the last continent they need to "expand" to, and it's likely you won't see Africa on the list for a LONG time after this.

The US has a very good chance in 2018, and IF it's to be held in N. America, you can almost guarantee it will be the US simply because of economics.

Canada is hosting the World Cup U20 championships. The draw is tomm. for the 24 teams in the tourney

That's good for Canada. Of course, the scale of that is way smaller than the actual WC. There was also talk of Canada or Australia hosting one of the Women's WC too.

Canada wont' get it.

The only way Canada would get some games is if one of the groups played all there games in Toronto plus 2 round of 16 games and one quarter final game. I really think that's a strong possibility. The rest of the games will definately be in the US.

But there is a realistic shot Canada will host at least some of the games.
