Bleacher Report Criticizes Gase On Defense

For the most part, I feel like we have the right guys. Especially on defense, we have to clean up a couple things that could help us prevent the explosive plays. That’s hurting us more than anything.”

Gase is delusional.

The biggest problems with this defense is the defensive coordinator, the scheme, and the middle linebacker. All of them need to be replaced.

Just watch a Miami game then watch the better defenses in the league. It’s a clear difference.

Guys flying to ball smacking people. Big fast talented players. We are lacking at most key spots.

Players are the biggest problem especially MLB.

Or stack the box. Throw the kitchen sink at the QB. Then drop em. Rush McMillan from the far edge with that speed. Blitz Minkah. Fake and drop. DO SOMETHING!

Naw. Base. Base. Base. And the WRs are still wide open and the run is still banging us.

Well, if all this is going wrong anyway, why are you afraid to stack the box and go after the QB? The WRs are wide open regardless. Attack goddamit.

If we were always playing base and giving up all those big plays against the Texans I would argue its the personnel, not the formation.

In his defense, he would be a fool to trash his personnel halfway through the season. That would be poor management. His answer is the right one, whether you or even he believes it or not.

I've said it before, but coming into the season this defense looked like **** on paper. A 3-0 start and overachieving group making timely turnovers while teams were still shaking the rust made people forget... but we're still a shitty defense. We never were a good defense... and the coach doesn't help, either.

Gase keeps saying the scheme is good and it would change for the teams they are playing, but the players need to do their jobs. Well, I don't expect that to happen because you're saying the players are not good enough to do their jobs. Kiko can't cover RB's or TE's, Wake and Branch can't set the edge, McMillan can't diagnose plays or shed blocks, and McCain breaks his ankles at least twice against any teams second receiver. These are supposed to be our starters contracted by our equally as untalented front office.

If we lose against the Jets, we will need to hear from Ross about what he's thinking about the direction the team will go.

we have the right guys on defense? what? we have NO pash rush, we cant stop the run, the opposing receivers are 2o yards around wide open and we have the right guys on defense?

its going to be the same thing next season. tannehill reminds me of ronny seikely from the heat, who learned to dribble right around the time he was getting ready to retire.
i knew we were f ed back in the day during his first year when they put him in against the cardinals and he threw 3 interceptions and one touchdown. next day everyone was hailing him as the next Marino.
