The single biggest mistake that has been made by this organization repeatedly since the turn of the century, is a lack of prioritizing acquiring a franchise QB, for the single most important position in professional sports.

When this organization drafted franchise QB's in Bob Griese and Dan Marino....it was a contender, won division titles, won conference championships, made it too and twice won superbowls.

Since the Wannstedt era , this organization has tried to cheap out at quarterback, picking up backups from other teams etc etc etc........

Everytime I wanted this organization to draft a QB, it failed too. I wanted Drew Brees....Wannstedt wanted Jamar Fletcher. I wanted Aaron Rogers...Saban wanted Ronnie Brown. I wanted Matt Ryan...Parcells wanted Jake Long. We could have drafted pro Bowl QB Andy Dalton last year.

Bottomline...it's way past time for this organization to wake up and prioritize the QB position...even if it means overpaying to get our guy. We should have known Manning was a longshot, and if Flynn was not high on our list we should have either made the move for RG3, or we need to make damn sure Tannehill doesn't slip away.

Regarding Flynn...I can only assume one of two things...Either Philbin doesn't think Flynn is a franchise QB, or this is yet another Gaffe by Jeff Ireland.

I don't see Matt Moore leading this team to the promise land...he is Don Strock to me. Perfect backup...not who you want as a regular starter.

I do think Alex Smith is an upgrade over Matt Moore, but I don't think we will get him.

So where does that leave us...we either hope Tannehill slips to number 8(Cleveland passes on him), or we target Weeden. I see no point in any other move now.

If we enter the 2012 season with Matt Moore and some lesser prospect...Jeff Ireland should be fired.

If Flynn goes on to greatness we dropped the ball again...............and its getting old!

Bingo!!

If the depth chart is Matt Moore/JP Losman/Pat Devlin . . . . seriously this guy needs to go.

If its Matt Moore/Tannehill or Weeden/Devlin . . . I can most certainly live with that

If its Smith/Moore/Devlin . . . thats great too as we would have 2 young but experienced guys who played well last year while still working on Devlin who I personally think could develop quite nicely under Philbin/Sherman and his offense.

The key is "settling" for Matt Moore . . . I don't care if people think this guy or that guy isn't an upgrade, blah blah . . . you can't leave Matt Moore unchallenged, it would be criminal to the entire Dolphins fanbase and organization.

I can only assume that Philbin who comes from a Qb centric organization will have Qb as high priority.

Finding Franchise QBs takes more than a little luck and generally comes from the draft.

A franchise QB for one team under their system using their personnel RARELY stays a franchise QB on another team.

Simply drafting a first round QB hardly increases your odds of getting a franchise QB. Chances are, either Luck or RGIII is not going to be a franchise QB. Indeed, the two best QBs of my lifetime - Brady and Montana - were later round draft picks.

While hunting for that elusive franchise QB, Miami needs to be working on getting one or better yet two QBs capable of a 90+ QB rating and a 2:1 TD to INT ratio.

If you insert that kind of QB into a team that can run and stop the run like Miami, then you have a playoff team.

Wrong, by overwhelming ratio franchise quarterbacks come from round one....period!

The Fins used to be QB centric, until Jimmy Johnson took all of Marino's weapons away, and made him "efficient".

Wanny took the Fins a step lower by trading 2 first round picks(which could have been used on QB's) for Ricky Williams. I loved Ricky(from a football sense), but I would have rather had a QB.

Culpepper over Brees..

Ronnie Brown instead of a QB....

Ted Ginns family....

A long list of FA QB's.. then Parcells takes a franchise LT instead of drafting Ryan.

MY god we have had plenty of chances...

I have an odd feeling we have our sights set on Tannehill but will be foiled by the Browns.  I could see them doing something crazy like taking Claiborne with #4 and then jumping back in front of us to snag Tannehill.  1.22, 2.5, and 1(2013) would probably get it done?

a month ago I said 3 first rounders for RG3 was not too much considering our past success on franchise qb's.

Still many disagreed.

There are no easy answers for fans. They just want the answer.

Our FO (not just Ireland-Ross era, but all the GM's and owners since Shula and Robbie), has consistently missed the window on drafting a solid, if not franchise QB.

In years with a good QB draft, we avoided the pick like the plague, and in years where the choices were slim we took fliers on ridiculous 2nd round picks.

We also lost out on the chance to grab excellent QBs in FA.

So now, once again, we face the same issue. Do we reach on a QB in the first round? Do we draft whatever is left in round 2 or lower?

Drafting QBs outside of the first round is a complete waste, and at our spot in the draft picking a QB would be a massive reach (unless by some stretch of the imagination Luck or RG3 drop)

We need to trade that first rounder for a first round pick in next year's draft so that we will ensure we have the ammo to trade up and get a real QB next year. Taking any of these other clowns before the third round is a waste of a pick.

Agreed......................................:thanks:

The only thing good i'll say about our Front Office is that they didn't break the bank or trade picks away for qb's like Orton, Kolb, Flynn or Alex Smith.

I think that's all the good I can say right now..

Flynn or Smith would not have required any draft picks...Kolb was resigned by Arizona...Orton is irrelevent.
