Former Dolphin front office man Bob Ackles has passed, according to a report this afternoon. He was very crucial part of the Jimmy Johnson era and was a big part in the early JJ drafts...

The part of this guy I loved the most was his candor...I hope some of you remember, but on the Dolphins team website he answered questions pertaining to the team weekly...He was he extremely available to fans...I loved his forums and waited for them each week...But if you ask any NFL exec about Bob theyll tell you just how respected he was in the game north and south of the border...

If the report is true...RIP Bob...you will be missed...

Good ole Canadian boy! Started off as a waterboy for the B.C. Lions in the '50s.. to become an Exec, in the CFL and a coulple of the most storied franchises in the NFL to boot!
 
Sad news when we herd of the passing of Mr. Ackles.. He was a part of the Dolphins of course but a huge part of Canadian football and the B.C. Lions..There is going to be a tribute to him in Vancouver tonight at halftime during the B.C. Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers game... Here is a tribute that the CFL has put together.. And on a side note if you have a chance to pick up Bob Ackles book the Waterboy it is a really great read..

I live in Vancouver, and I have to say, its really nice to see you guys even take notice of this. He has really turned the team here around and made it enjoyable to go to games again. There are a few Phin cuts current playing for the Lions. A guy by the name of Stephan Logan (sp?) stepped in last week at rb and ripped off like 135 yards rushing. Guy is tiny, hence why Bill told him he had no shot with him. Looks like a player though, and suited for the CFL game.
