Money Is A Major Issue (M.I.A.M.I)
LUBBOCK, Texas - As Bob Knight moved one win closer to catching Dean Smith, his temper flared once again, when he used his hand to push a player's chin during a timeout, as if to make him look the coach in the eye.

With more than 4 minutes to go in Texas Tech's 86-74 victory over Gardner-Webb on Monday night, Red Raiders forward Michael Prince was called for a foul. During the ensuing timeout, Knight approached Prince, and as the player lowered his head, the coach made contact with his chin.
Knight gave a brief statement at the postgame news conference then answered one question before exiting the room. The incident with Prince was never addressed.

If he gets fired, I would agree though..you can't hit players..but if this was someone else, this would be a non story

i dont think it would be a non story, maybe not as big.

but theres a problem when you hit other people like that. i dont think i would hit him, but you dont touch me like that. you cant even hit someone in the army without them touching you first. although they still do, this isnt the army, its sports.

tru tru..I wouldnt take this crap from a coach either..but the dude and his family said its straight and they didnt have a problem with it..I dont think it should be a story..but if the parent was hot as hell and the kid, then I think it should be a story and Bob fired

its wrong to hit anyone in sports though..no doubt about it..dead wrong

The kid does not have a problem with it, the kids mother does not have a problem with it.

I see no problem with it, it was more of a push then a smack, and it was not hard from what I saw.

In fact the only reason this is inthe news is because his name is Bobby Knight, any other coach and this is nothing.

its just a passionate coach doing what he can to get the attention of a kid...i saw no problem with it...i got checked like that playing sports getting down on myself, and i see no problem with what he did...i agree with the previous statement made by someone when they said if not for the name bobby knight it would be a non issue

I dont agree with the statement that this would be a non issue or non story if another coach had done it, I do think it would be news but certainly with Knight's history its a much bigger story than it would have been with someone else. Knight has a long history of stuff like this and hes a popular media story.
If a WR made statements about their Qb it would be a story but if Terrell Owens does it again it would be a bigger story it goes back to a pattern of behavior and popularity with Knight. I dont feel sorry for the guy.

It's not big deal if it's not your chin getting slapped. If this was football, I would have no problem with it, coaches grap facemasks of players all the time, and football is a physical sports we're guys can't be soft. In b-ball though, I don't think is acceptable. Like I said if this was football, I wouldn't care because coaches do it all the time, and many coaches have done it in their careers. In b-ball however, it seems like Bobby Knight is the only one doing this crap and just because it's Bobby Knight doesn't make it acceptable. I'm just waiting for one of these kids to smack the old man around when he pulls crap like this. The Texas Tech team shoudl make a vow that if he does this again, he's going to be smacked back. Not acceptable, at least on the b-ball court!
