He played some safety during the season (a few snaps) and he's very similar to Tyran Matthieu as far as skillset and size. Not saying he will be the best safety in the game in 2 years but he's got all the tools to make a smooth transition and be very effective in coverage and create turnovers, and who knows what happens after that. It's not like Tyran was considered elite his first two years (underachieving actually). Seeing how we already have a stud like Jones in the box it would be great to have a centerfielder who can play the pass primarily. I like Michael Thomas but he's probably best suited for the SS positon.

so you propose making a safety out of a guy that tackles like a slot corner...

i will pass

package play is one thing but full out safety you better be able to fire into the box and make sure tackles as the last line of defense

I don't remember that many missed tackles by Bobby last year?

If we're going to get anything out of Jamar Taylor it might be as a safety reclamation project. But I don't see it with Bobby and given we'll have a hole at slot when we cut Brice, I'm not sure I see the point.

Daryl Worley of WVU interests me a lot as a guy to convert back to F'S. He was a safety/WR in HS but has played corner since. Horrible backpedal and sorta choppy trying to mirror his guy, but the instincts, tackling, athleticism and appetite for the game really jump out. Should be late day 2 early day 3 guy.

Or just draft karl joseph, or sean davis

I would still like to see Brice play the slot like we paid him to, just need to get a solid boundary corner to do so.

What I would do is take a look at the Broncos D, what made them dominate the Panthers? A sick outside LB in Miller. With the 8th overall pick, lets take a sick outside LB and line him up behind Suh. Suh takes up two linemen, right? There you go. I would draft LB, CB and DE with the first three picks.

Yeah -- Brice McCain should have been playing in the freaking slot. He was MONEY from the slot in Pittsburgh. Then we put him on the boundary here, and obviously he is exposed. We never shoulda done that.

Yes, I agree. Jamar Taylor isn't just a good tackler, he really loves doing it, it shows. I think he would embrace the move, but I question his durability so I'm thinking all we may really get is a backup, or a starter someday who will need an excellent backup because he is going to consistently miss games.

I think Bobby McCain will be a good slot corner but the vast majority of CB's take time to develop. It could be two more years. Bring in Adam Jones or Leon Hall or both.

Lippett, on the other hand, is just as gifted at CB as his college coach Mark Dantonio said, IMO. I think he could start at one of the boundaries next year, but 2017 would be better for him as well.

I really hope the Fins try Jamar Taylor at FS. The guy likes to tackle and I'd think he'd be solid in coverage as a S. This would be in line with Jimmy Johnson's philosophy of drafting "coverage guys" or CBs to play S (e.g., Shawn Wooden). Yes, it sucks that Taylor cost a 2nd round pick and didn't work out as a CB, but if he becomes a solid S (like Devin McCourty), I'll take it.

Couldn't hurt at all, same with Aikens back at corner i mean he is great on the boundary in special teams, seems like he would be at home there full time.

I'm definitely intrigued by Taylor at FS. He's a solid tackler when he wants to be. Other times he looks disinterested and is hardly even in pursuit iirc

Is that the only thing you saw? I saw Derek Wolfe, Malik Jackson, and Sylvester Williams dominating the interior. Considering no one in this draft is on Miller's level, just drafting an outside LB at #8 wouldn't be ideal unless you're really reaching or Leonard Floyd destroyed the Combine.

Draft KJ Costello I think he's gonna be nasty

Isn't he the QB that signed to Stanford? Do you mean KJ Dillon?
