Memphis listed cornerback Bobby McCain as standing 5-foot-11 during his collegiate career, but after the Miami Dolphins selected the former Oxford High School standout in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, he shrank to 5-9.

McCain doesn't need to look at a roster to know how tall he is. He deals with it whenever he lines up to cover some lanky receiver.
"I don't see it as a challenge at all," McCain said of his height. "I see it as you go out every day and you compete hard regardless if the guy's 6-5 or the guy's 5-10. You go out and the next man's in front of you and it's your job to win."
The Dolphins aren't concerned about McCain's height. They have a 5-10 cornerback in Brent Grimes who's been a Pro Bowler three times. Former Samford standout Cortland Finnegan, who retired after the 2014 season, started at cornerback for Miami last season at 5-9.
McCain was tickled to be picked by the Dolphins because Grimes and Finnegan.

Bobby McCain better stand tall. Hes too short as it is lol

But i think he will surprise alot of people and earn regular playing time. He will be the new Grimes it is a good comparison and not just because of height. Both have great ball skills, and excellent awareness/football IQ. Similar speed too. Both 4.5 guys

I know that bobby McCain was high on a lot of people lists...size can hinder, but from what I have read he plays tough...

Bobby McCain is actually 5'9 3/4" so he's 5'10". Grimes is closer to 5'8" then 5'10". McCain is a good inch taller than Grimes.

Thanks for that snippet DE76. His size doesn't worry me too much because we've seen what a small quick corner can do (Grimes). I just hope he comes out strong and maybe our dbs won't be such a weakness this year

Steve smith was too short to play WR. He turned out to be a IMO a 1st round HOF.

I like Bobby McCain. He was one of my favorite picks. I think he will prove to be a very good 5th round pick and a good player.

But it is unrealistic to expect him to be Brent Grimes. Just let him be a good contributing corner and don't expect him to be the next Grimes. Those guys don't come along often.

LAST YEAR: i predicted that by mid season, Jarvis Landry was going to put someone one the bench. That happened.

THIS YEAR: Bobby McCain is the guy who is going to put someone on the bench by mid season.

one question: can he play the slot better than jimmy wilson (5'11" btw)? :p

Love me some Bobby McCain. When I see a shorter CB wearing 28, I think of Darrell Green. No pressure, Bobby!

win the slot job first...at that size til you prove yourself there no ones making starting boundary potential plans for you...jamar taylor barring injury is gonna keep that starting boundary gig this year...he's the most talented of the cornerbacks that has the measurables and skill set for the boundary

both the 5th round pick dbs are gonna make this roster...if walt aikens makes it at safety thompson worst case can play a better specials than will davis...davis is the one that's in serious jeopardy of the incumbent dbs if aikens is kept

I think so. I haven't seen much of anything from Will Davis. Aikens made some plays last year, Taylor started to make some plays after some trial and error. The McCains have a lot of potential. Lippett is an interesting prospect if he pans out. Michael Thomas still gets a pass from his Tom Brady 2-pick showcase... that just leaves Davis as the only one left. Hopefully he's got a chip on his shoulder with something to prove.
